The 42-year-old actress was joined by Viola Davis, Rashida Jones, and American Idol finalists Angie Miller, Kree Harrison, Amber Holcomb, and Candice Glover.

The fundraiser supports the work of 275 AmeriCorps members who serve as tutors and role models to more than 4,000 students who are at risk of dropping out of school.

Earlier in the month, Octavia and Viola hit the purple carpet at the 2013 Silver Rose Awards Gala in Los Angeles.

American Idol contestant Angie Miller gives an emotional performance of the song “I’ll Stand By You” dedicated to her hometown of Boston during the live show on Wednesday (April 17).

The 19-year-old singer got a standing ovation from three out of the four judges, but received praise from all of them for her performance.

“My heart is going out to my home.. #PrayForBoston,” Angie tweeted earlier in the week after the explosions at the Boston Marathon.

Candice Glover belts out the iconic hit “Love Song” during the Top 6 Performance Show of American Idol on Wednesday (April 10) in Los Angeles.

The 23-year-old contestant gave what the judges called one of the best performances in the show’s history. By the end of the song, all four of the judges – Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Randy Jackson, and Keith Urban – were on their feet.

During the show, Candice also received a standing ovation for her performance of “Don’t Make Me Over”.

The other five contestants in the top 6 are Angie Miller, Kree Harrison, Amber Holcomb, Janelle Arthur, and Lazaro Arbos.

The 42-year-old entertainer was joined by host Ryan Seacrest, fellow judges Keith Urban and Randy Jackson, and the Top 10 contestants Amber Holcomb, Angie Miller, Burnell Taylor, Candice Glover, Curtis Finch Jr., Devin Velez, Janelle Arthur, Kree Harrison, Lazaro Arbos, and Paul Jolley.

The twelfth season of American Idol is now down to the Top 10 contestants!

During the show, host Ryan Seacrest revealed the top ten contestants by first telling the contestants in a room that they made it through, and then bringing them to the stage to surprise the judges and audience.

In addition to making it in to the top ten, all of the contestants moving on will get to perform on the nationwide tour this summer. Ryan also announced that a wild card contestant will be chosen to go on the tour!

If you were watching American Idol tonight, you probably were as impressed as we were by Angie Miller!

The 18-year-old aspiring singer from Massachusetts sang her original song “You Set Me Free” and blew the judges away, receiving a standing ovation from all four.

Angela moved on to the Top 40 on the show and we can’t wait to see how far she makes it in the competition!
