Anna Faris Responds to People Who Told Her Chris Pratt Should Be Her Best Friend

Anna Faris‘ new book “Unqualified” hits bookshelves next month, and she’s sharing an excerpt about female friendships and why they’re so important.

“I was once told that I didn’t need a tight group of girlfriends because [estranged husband] Chris should be my best friend. But I never bought that,” Anna writes in the book. “The idea of your mate being your best friend — it’s overhyped. I really believe that your partner serves one purpose and each friend serves another. There’s the friend you confess things to and the friend with whom you do the listening. Or this is the person I talk to when I’m feeling lonely and sad, this is the person I talk to about work sh*t, and this is the friend I’m still in touch with because we grew up together.”

“To be honest, I think the notion of best friends in general is messed up though. It puts so much pressure on any one person, when I truly believe it’s okay to have intimacy with different people in different ways. And ranking your friends? It just shouldn’t happen, at least not beyond grade school,” she continued.

The book is set to hit shelves on October 24, 2017. The book features a forward by Chris, which was written before they announced their separation.

Anna Faris Gives Relationship Advice After Chris Pratt Split: 'Know Your Worth'

Anna Faris took a question from a caller asking for relationship advice on her podcast Unqualified, and the 40-year-old actress offered her viewpoints.

“Life is too short to be in relationships where you feel this isn’t fully right or somebody doesn’t have your back, or somebody doesn’t fully value you. Don’t be afraid to feel your independence if things aren’t right,” Anna told the caller just weeks after her split from husband Chris Pratt.

“I made that mistake, I think, a little bit, like ‘I’m checking my relationship off the list’ and if that would be the final piece of advice I could give you, that would be know your worth, know your independence,” Anna continued.

Earlier in the podcast, Anna addressed her fans for the first time since her split.

Anna Faris Thanks Fans for Support After Chris Pratt Split

Anna Faris took a moment at the beginning of her podcast, Anna Faris Is Unqualified, to address her split from Chris Pratt.

“Hey, dear listeners: I just want to thank you all so much for all the love I’ve been receiving, and I truly love you,” Anna told her listeners before the slipping into the pre-taped episode featuring the My Favorite Murder hosts Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark. This was the first episode Anna released since news broke that she was separating from her husband.

Anna and Chris announced their split earlier this month. They were married for eight years and share a son named Jack, who was born in August of 2012.

Kristen Bell Puts Positive Spin to Anna Faris & Chris Pratt's Split

Kristen Bell thinks that fans of former couple Anna Faris and Chris Pratt should look at their split with a positive angle, instead of being heartbroken over the breakup.

The 37-year-old actress says that people forget to acknowledge the fact that when a couple splits, there was still love in the relationship at some point.

“I think there’s a little bit of lack of acknowledgment about really loving something that was. If there are two people that decide not to be together, it shouldn’t really be a heartbreak for everyone,” Kristen told E! News.

“You should say, ‘Oh, they tried. But that doesn’t discount the lovely years they had together.’ If I ever get divorced, I’m still going to be like, ‘Wow, I loved being married to that man,’” she added.

Kristen also says that it probably wasn’t Chris‘ rising star power that took a toll on the relationship.

“I don’t necessarily know that it’s ‘Hollywood’ that gets in the way,” she said. “The reality is when you’re working in this industry you’re sometimes shooting a movie in China for four months. You’re away from your family for four months. I think it’s more the separation than anything that can weigh on people.”

Anna Faris Once Said Chris Pratt Cheating Rumors Were 'Weirdly Stinging'

When Chris Pratt was filming his movie Passengers with Jennifer Lawrence, there were some rumors that Anna Faris was worried he would cheat on her.

The rumors were totally false and Anna opened up about how the rumors affected her. Now that she and Chris announced they are getting divorced, the quotes are resurfacing.

“I had always kind of believed that part of the rumors of celebrity couples were sort of true because they had never been part of my life,” Anna told Us Weekly back in August 2015. “I was like, ‘Oh, maybe there’s a kernel of truth to that.’ It’s been a little devastating because for us, it’s like, ‘What the heck?’ This has been blindsiding to us. We have an incredible relationship. It has been weirdly stinging.”

“[That] stung a little bit harder than I thought it would,” Anna added about the rumors that she was worried Chris would cheat on her with Jennifer.

Cheating thankfully does not seem to have played any part in the split whatsoever and a source told People that Chris and Anna‘s “busy careers” played a part in the breakup.

Anna Faris Talked About Loneliness a Week Before Split News

Just a matter of days before her split from husband Chris Pratt was announced, Anna Faris opened up about feeling lonely during the latest episode of her podcast.

The 40-year-old actress talked with musician Josh Ostrander on the July 31 episode of the podcast and she said she related to his feeling of “solitude.”

“I play a character on Mom, I play a character in movies, but I also play a public character,” Anna said. “There’s definitely a loneliness and, like, an internal element to being a performer. I feel like I have to laugh.”

“I play a public character,” she added. “I laugh loud sometimes — maybe too loud but it is a public character sometimes. Like, if I have a red carpet thing or whatever, which I’m never comfortable, but I’m always like, ‘I’m fine!’ And it never feels like me.”

Anna said that she also doesn’t ever look back at photos of herself on the red carpet.
