Meghan McCain Is Getting Dragged By Twitter Over Her Comments About Dr. Anthony Fauci

Twitter is not a fan of Meghan McCain following her comments about Dr. Anthony Fauci that she made on The View on Monday (February 22).

During the episode, a clip of Dr. Fauci talking about vaccinations aired and in response, Meghan, 36, complained that she doesn’t know when she’ll get the vaccination, if at all.

“So I was very frustrated when I saw this clip,” she shared, before cutting to say that she does have “respect” for the pandemic that has now taken more than half a million American lives and doesn’t mean to “downplay” the tragedy.

“That being said, next week it will be a year since we left the studio and I have been very responsible in many different ways as so many Americans have been,” Meghan added. “And the fact that Dr. Fauci is going on CNN and he can’t tell me that if I get the vaccine, if I’ll be able to have dinner with my family.”

“It’s terribly inconsistent messaging and it continues to be inconsistent messaging…The fact that I, Meghan McCain, co-host of The View, don’t know when or how I will be able to get a vaccine because the rollout for my age range and my health is so nebulous, I have no idea when and how I get it.”

Meghan went on, “I want to get it. If you call me at three o’clock in the morning, I will go any place at any time to get it. I want to be responsible and obviously wait my turn, but this rollout has been a disaster. And I understand President Trump can take much of the blame, but now we’re in the Biden administration and I, for one, would like something to look forward to and to hope for because if getting the vaccine means that just nothing changes and we have to wait another few years until everyone gets it, there’s already a lot of people not getting it.

“So I’m over Dr. Fauci,” she then said. “I think we need to have more people giving more opinions and honestly quite frankly, I think the Biden administration should remove him and put someone in place that does understand science or can talk like these other countries about how we can be more like these other places that are doing this successfully.”

Hours after, Meghan stood by her comments.

Twitter is still calling her out for her privilege and insensitivity about the situation.

Dr. Fauci Says It's 'Possible' Masks Will Be Needed Through 2022

Dr. Anthony Fauci is getting candid about the pandemic.

The 80-year-old immunologist expert made an appearance on CNN’s State of the Union, where he discussed the reality of the virus.

During the appearance, he warned it is “possible” that Americans will be wearing masks in 2022.

“It depends on the level of dynamics of virus that it’s the community…if you see the level coming down really, really very low, I want it keep going down to a baseline that’s so low that there’s virtually no threat – it’ll never be zero – but a minimal, minimal threat that you will be exposed to someone who’s infected. So if you combine getting most of the people in the country vaccinated with getting the level of virus in the community very very low, then I believe you’re going to be able to say, for the most part, we don’t necessarily have to wear masks,” he went on to say.

“I think we’re going to have a significant degree of normality, beyond the terrible burden all of us have been through in the last year, that as we get into the fall and winter… we will be approaching a degree of normality,” he also said.

“When it goes way down and the overwhelming majority of the people in the population are vaccinated, then I would feel comfortable in saying, you know, ‘We need to pull back on the masks,’ ” he continued.

At the same time, the New York Times reported that the U.S. is likely to hit half a million deaths due to coronavirus in the next few days.

“It’s nothing like we’ve ever been through in the last 102 years since the 1918 influenza pandemic. People decades from now are going to be talking about this as a terribly historic milestone in the history of this country,” he said.

“It really is a terrible situation that we’ve been through and that we’re still going through, and that’s the reason why we keep insisting to continue with the public health measures because we don’t want this to get much worse than it already is.”

Fauci also recently revealed he was blocked from being able to do this.

Dr. Anthony Fauci Reveals He Was 'Blocked' By Trump Administration From Going on Rachel Maddow's Show

Dr. Anthony Fauci is opening up about his experience with the Trump Administration and revealed that he was pressured into saying things about the COVID-19 pandemic that didn’t line up with the proven science.

Speaking with MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow, the longtime director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases also revealed that he was actually blocked from coming on her show to speak with her.

“I’ve been wanting to come on your show for months and months,” Dr. Fauci shared with her. “You’ve been asking me to come on your show for months and months and it just got blocked. Let’s call it what it is. It just got blocked because they didn’t like the way you handle things and they didn’t want me on.”

In a separate interview with the New York Times, Dr. Fauci also recalled the tense relationship he had with Donald Trump, who claimed the virus would just go away.

“It isn’t like I took any pleasure in contradicting the president of the United States,” Dr. Fauci shared. “I have a great deal of respect for the office. But I made a decision that I just had to. Otherwise I would be compromising my own integrity, and be giving a false message to the world. If I didn’t speak up, it would be almost tacit approval that what he was saying was OK.”

He added that doing that is also “when I started to get into some trouble.”

“The people around him, his inner circle, were quite upset that I would dare publicly contradict the president.”

Dr. Fauci, who was sworn in as President Joe Biden’s chief medical adviser earlier in the week, was also one of the many familiar faces who have gotten the COVID-19 vaccine.
