Dr. Anthony Fauci Reveals Whether He Had Side Effects After First Dose of Moderna Coronavirus Vaccine

Dr. Anthony Fauci is feeling fine.

The 79-year-old infectious disease expert confirmed that he is feeling good five days after being administered the first dose of the Moderna novel coronavirus vaccine in an interview with CNN’s State of the Union on Sunday (December 27).

“The only thing I had was 6-10 hours following the vaccine I felt a little bit of an ache in my arm that lasted maybe 24 hours, a little bit more. Then went away and completely other than that I felt no other deleterious types of effects,” he explained.

“It was really quite good, it was even as good or better than an influenza vaccine. Nothing serious at all. Perhaps when I get the boost I might feel a little aching because the immune system will be revving up even more but I’ll be getting that in about three weeks,” he continued to say.

The Moderna vaccine, like the Pfizer-BioNTech coronavirus vaccine, requires two doses, each several weeks apart, in order to reach 95% efficacy. It was approved by the Food and Drug Administration earlier this month and is being distributed throughout the country.

“We very well might see a post-seasonal, in the sense of Christmas and New Years, surge. And as I’ve described it as a surge upon a surge because if you look at the slope, the incline of cases we’ve experienced as we’ve gone into the late fall and soon to be early winter, it really is quite troubling,” he warned.

“If you put more pressure on the system by what might be a post seasonal surge because of the traveling and the likely congregating for the good warm purposes of being together for the holidays, it’s very tough for people not to do that. And even though we advise not to, it’s going to happen. So I share the concern of President-elect Biden that as we get into the next few weeks it might actually get worse.”

Dr. Fauci Says He Vaccinated Santa Claus During a Trip to the North Pole

Dr. Anthony Fauci is making sure that kids feel safe on Christmas Day and he’s assuring them that it’s perfectly fine for Santa Claus to visit their homes.

During an appearance on the CNN Town Hall with Sesame Street, Fauci responded to questions from kids like “how did Santa get the vaccine and is it safe for him to go in the house” and “how can Santa Claus safely give out presents with COVID-19 spreading everywhere?”

Fauci said, “Well I have to say I took care of that for you because I was worried you’d all be upset. So what I did a little while ago, I took a trip up there to the North Pole. I went there and I vaccinated Santa Claus myself. I measured his level of immunity, and he is good to go.”

“He can come down the chimney. He can leave the presents, he can leave and you have nothing to worry about. Santa Claus is good to go,” Fauci added.

Dr. Anthony Fauci Reveals Santa Claus Is The Only One Immune From Coronavirus

Dr. Anthony Fauci is giving us some hope for Christmas, and letting us know that Santa Claus might be the only one immune to coronavirus.

In a new interview with USA Today, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases revealed that the pandemic won’t stop St. Nicholas from spreading Christmas spirit around the world.

“Santa is exempt from this because Santa, of all the good qualities, has a lot of good innate immunity,” Dr. Fauci shared. “Santa is not going to be spreading any infections to anybody.”

Of course, while Santa might be immune, the country will look a little different as far as holiday gatherings go, as many officials advise families to celebrate with their immediate kin right now in an attempt to stop the spread and lower the number of cases.

“The tragedy that could happen is one of your family members, from coming together in a family gathering, could wind up hospitalized and severely ill and could die. We don’t want to see that happen. This year we’re asking people to be as safe as possible,” said the CDC’s Dr. Henry Walke.

Moderna's Coronavirus Vaccine in Almost 95% Effective in Early Studies

There is some amazing news this Monday morning – Moderna’s Coronavirus vaccine is almost 95% effective!

“These are obviously very exciting results,” Dr. Anthony Fauci, top infectious disease doctor, said (via CNN). “It’s just as good as it gets — 94.5% is truly outstanding.”

“It was one of the greatest moments in my life and my career. It is absolutely amazing to be able to develop this vaccine and see the ability to prevent symptomatic disease with such high efficacy,” Dr. Tal Zacks, Moderna’s chief medical officer also said.

The vaccine will begin to be distributed in December to health care workers and will be given to other high risk groups in terms of priority.

“I think that everybody else will start to get vaccinated towards the end of April,” Dr. Fauci added. “And that will go into May, June, July. It will take a couple of months to do.”

This news is similar to the news about Pfizer Inc’s COVID-19 vaccine, which has also been discovered to be extremely effective in preventing the disease.

Dr. Anthony Fauci Estimates United States Could Get Back to Relative Normality by This Date

Dr. Anthony Fauci is providing an estimated timeline on the United States’ relative return to normalcy.

The country’s top infectious expert opened up to CNN about estimated timelines on Sunday (November 15).

During the interview, he said he believed the U.S. could start getting back to relative normality by the second or third quarter of next year – around April or July of 2021. He also said gatherings could happen again dependent on a number of factors, including vaccines.

He discussed Pfizer’s announcement of a vaccine that has proven to be more than 90% effective.

“That’s great, but we have to get people to take the vaccine. So, if we get the overwhelming majority of people taking the vaccine, and you have on the one hand an effective vaccine, on the other hand, a high degree of uptake of the vaccine, we could start getting things back to relative normal as we get into the second and third quarter of the year, where people can start thinking about doing things that were too dangerous just months ago,” he explained.

He added that America “can’t just wish it happening,” adding that vaccines must be deployed and public health measures must still be followed.

It was recently revealed over a hundred of these White House-adjacent officers are either quarantining or testing positive amid the pandemic.
