In light of the allegations that Kevin Spacey sexually harassed a then-fourteen year old Anthony Rapp, production on House of Cards has been suspended indefinitely.

Yesterday, Netflix announced that House of Cards would be ending with its sixth season, originally set to air next year. The future now remains unclear.

Anthony Rapp Explains Why He Came Forward with Kevin Spacey Story

Anthony Rapp is opening up about his decision to come forward with his story about Kevin Spacey allegedly making a sexual advance toward him when he was just a teenager.

The 46-year-old actor, best known for originating the role of Mark in Rent and starring in Star Trek: Discovery, alleged that Spacey tried to seduce him when they were alone in his apartment after a party in 1986.

“I came forward with my story, standing on the shoulders of the many courageous women and men who have been speaking out, to shine a light and hopefully make a difference, as they have done for me,” Anthony said in a statement to People. “Everything I wanted to say about my experience is in that [BuzzFeed] article, and I have no further comment about it at this time.”

'House of Cards' Creator Responds to Kevin Spacey Allegations

Beau Willimon, the creator of House of Cards, has released a statement about the allegations made by Anthony Rapp against the Netflix show’s star Kevin Spacey.

Anthony Rapp’s story is deeply troubling. During he time I worked with Kevin Spacey on House of Cards I neither witnessed nor was aware of any inappropriate behavior on set or off. That said, I take reports of such behavior seriously, and this is no exception. I feel for Mr. Rapp and I support his courage,” Beau wrote in a statement released on his Twitter account.

In addition to responding to the allegations that he made a pass at Anthony when he was only 14, Kevin chose to use his apology as the place to come out, causing added controversy.

Kevin Spacey Comes Out as Gay & Responds to Anthony Rapp's Accusation: 'I Owe Him the Sincerest Apology'

Kevin Spacey has come out as a gay man while simultaneously apologizing to Anthony Rapp.

After the 46-year-old Star Trek: Discovery actor accused the 58-year-old actor of making a pass at him when he was only 14 years old, Kevin issued a statement on social media on Sunday night (October 29).

“I have a lot of respect and admiration for Anthony Rapp as an actor. I’m beyond horrified to hear his story. I honestly do not remember the encounter, it would have been over 30 years ago,” he wrote. “But if I did behave then as he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior, and I am sorry for the feelings he describes having carried with him all these years.”

“This story has encouraged me to address other things about my life. I know that there are stories out there about me and that some have been fueled by the fact that I have been so protective of my privacy. As those closest to me know, in my life I have had relationships with both men and women. I have loved and had romantic relationships with men throughout my life, and I choose now to live as a gay man. I want to deal with this honestly and openly and that starts with examining my own behavior.”

Anthony told Buzzfeed News that Kevin invited him over to a party at his apartment. While there, Anthony watched TV in Kevin‘s bedroom until realizing he was the only one left. Kevin then reportedly walked in, picked Anthony up and put him on his bed.

“He was trying to seduce me…I don’t know if I would have used that language. But I was aware that he was trying to get with me sexually,” says Anthony.

“I saw on the counter next to the sink a picture of him having his arm around a man. So I think on some level I was like, ‘Oh. He’s gay. I guess.’ Then I opened the door, and I was like, ‘OK, I’m going to go home now.’ He followed me to the front door of the apartment, and as I opened the door to leave, he was leaning on the front door[frame]. And he was like, ‘Are you sure you wanna go?’ I said, ‘Yes, good night,’ and then I did leave.”
