Sonequa Martin-Green Does Vulcan Salute on New 'EW' Cover

Sonequa Martin-Green is front and center on the cover of Entertainment Weekly‘s new issue, highlighting the stars of the new CBS All Access series Star Trek: Discovery!

The 32-year-old actress, best known for her work on The Walking Dead, is the first black female lead in Star Trek history.

Sonequa was joined on the cover by her co-stars Doug Jones, Anthony Rapp, and Mary Wiseman.

Showrunner Bryan Fuller opened up about the diverse casting for the new series.

“I couldn’t stop thinking about how many black people were inspired by seeing Nichelle Nichols on the bridge of the ship,” he said. “I couldn’t stop thinking about how many Asian people were inspired by seeing George Takei and feeling that gave them hope for their place in the future. I wanted to be part of that representation for a new era.”

'Star Trek: Discovery' Trailer Debuts During Comic-Con Panel!

Sonequa Martin-Green throws up a Vulcan salute while Jason Isaacs cheers her on at the Star Trek: Discovery panel held during 2017 Comic-Con on Saturday (July 22) in San Diego, Calif.

The actors were joined on stage by co-stars Doug Jones, James Frain, Mary Wiseman, and Anthony Rapp to debut the new trailer for their CBS All Access series.

Star Trek: Discovery will follow the voyages of Starfleet on their missions to discover new worlds and new lifeforms, and one Starfleet officer who must learn that to truly understand all things alien, you must first understand yourself.

The series will feature a new ship, new characters, and new missions, while embracing the same ideology and hope for the future that inspired a generation of dreamers and doers.

The first episode will air on CBS on Sunday, September 24 at 8:30/7:30c with all future episodes premiering on Sunday nights on CBS All Access, the network’s streaming service.

Idina Menzel Brings Her Powerhouse Vocals to LA in 'If/Then'

Idina Menzel takes her bow during the curtain call at the opening night performance of her musical If/Then at the Pantages Theatre on Wednesday (December 9) in Los Angeles.

The Tony Award-winning actress is performing in select cities on the national tour of the Broadway show alongside fellow original cast members LaChanze, James Snyder, and Anthony Rapp.

Some of the celebs that stepped out to check out Idina‘s powerhouse performance included ShadowhuntersKatherine McNamara, How to Get Away with Murder‘s Alfred Enoch, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s Ming-Na Wen, NCIS: Los AngelesBarrett Foa, Awkward‘s Molly Tarlov, and former Mean Girls co-stars Lacey Chabert and Jonathan Bennett.

Idina Menzel Debuts New Bangs at 'If/Then' CD Signing!

Idina Menzel poses with her co-star LaChanze while attending a CD signing for the original cast recording of their new Broadway show If/Then on Thursday afternoon (June 12) at the Sony Store in New York City.

The ladies were joined by co-stars Anthony Rapp and James Snyder, as well as composer Tom Kitt.

Idina was showing off her new bangs that day, which she debuted on her Twitter account that morning with the caption, “Impulsive two minute haircut… BANG!”

It was just revealed that the If/Then CD received the highest debut for a Broadway cast album on the Billboard chart since Rent back in 1996 – another show that Idina starred in!

Idina Menzel Sings Rent's 'Seasons of Love' Solo for Charity - WATCH NOW!

Idina Menzel reads the lyrics to “Seasons of Love” while singing the female solo to help benefit charity after a performance of her Broadway show If/Then on Saturday (April 12) in New York City.

During this time of the year, all the shows on Broadway raise money for a charity called Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and every show does something creative to get the audience members to shell out the big bucks.

Idina and her If/Then co-star Anthony Rapp both appeared in the original cast of the beloved musical Rent and they got the audience to donate $8,000 for an impromptu performance of “Seasons of Love” with the two stars doing the solos!
