Atlanta Movie Theater Shooting: Two Injured, Not Related to 'The Interview'

Two people are injured after a shooting at the Midtown Arts Cinema in Atlanta, Ga. on Tuesday night (December 23), according to WSB-TV.

The shooting was not related to the controversial movie The Interview and instead took place at a screening of the new independent movie Finesse. The screening was attended by the film’s cast and after the movie ended, shots were fired as the audience exited the theater into the concessions area around 10:30pm ET.

One man was shot in the buttocks while a bullet grazed a woman’s leg. They were both taken to a nearby hospital to be treated.

Corey Crum, an actor in the movie being screened, said that people “were laying on the floor crying, and that people left the building running, some losing their shoes.”

The shooter has not yet been arrested.

“We do not have anybody in custody. We’re still gathering information and trying to identify who did this and apprehend them,” Atlanta police officer John Chaffee said.
