Backstreet Boys & New Kids on the Block Touring Together Too?!

Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block are close to signing a deal with Live Nation Entertainment to tour together this Spring, according to E!.

The tour, which is described to be an evening of Expendables-meets-boy-band, is even searching for a third group to join the fun, with Boyz II Men being at the top of the list.

Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block joined the stage together last June at Radio City Music Hall for an impromptu performance of the Backstreet classic, “I Want It That Way.”

The management teams for both groups are even trying to get the boys together to record a single before the start of the tour!

Backstreet Boys Jump Jive Records

The Backstreet Boys are switching music labels!

Nick Carter, Brian Littrell, Howie Dorough and AJ McLean just posted a note on their official website titled “Freedom”:

“So the news is out! The Backstreet Boys are no longer signed to long time record label Jive Records. The amicable split is very exciting for the group. ‘This is the best thing, at the best time that could have ever happened for us’, says Brian Littrell. ‘We are confident in the future of our band, and are looking forward to the new things to come. 2011 is going to be a great year for us!’ KTBSPA.” (Keep the Backstreet Pride Alive)

Backstreet Boys - 'Bigger' Music Video

Check out the new Backstreet Boys music video for “Bigger”, the second single off their latest album, This Is Us.

It looks like this music vid was just shot in Japan, shortly after Brian Littrell was diagnosed and quarantined with swine flu.

BSB
is scheduled to head back to Japan in early 2010 to perform a string of dates on their “This Is Us Tour” at the Saitama Super Arena, World Hall and the Nippon Gaishi Hall.

Backstreet Boys' Brian Littrell Gets Swine Flu

Backstreet Boys member Brian Litrell has been diagnosed with Swine Flu.

“We were really looking forward to spending time with our closest fans and friends in NYC and take part of PINKTOBER, an unbelievable and important program,” the 34-year-old singer says. “I hope we can come back soon and do everything we can to help.”

The other three BSB members, Nick Carter, Howie Dorough and AJ McLean have seen a doctor and are not showing any symptoms. As a preventive measure, the doctor has prescribed Tamiflu to the group and their touring party, who had just returned to the states from Tokyo.

As a result, BSB cancelled today’s NYC PINKTOBER Hard Rock Café signing, tomorrow’s CBS Early Show performance, and the PC Richards (downtown) show.

The Backstreet Boys are in New York in support of their new album This Is Us, out tomorrow, October 6th on Jive Records.

Get well soon, Brian!

In related news, production on the FOX series Bones has been shut down because of an outbreak of swine flu.

Backstreet Boys: Another Album On The Way!

You haven’t heard the last of the Backstreet Boys!

AJ McLean, 30, Howie Dorough, 34, Nick Carter, 28, and Brian Littrell, 33, have already started working on its follow-up to last year’s “Unbreakable,” reports Billboard.

BSB already recorded some new material for their six studio album while on tour in Europe. But the boys have plans to hit the studio again after its tour of North America, which starts Tuesday in St. John’s, Newfoundland, and wraps on Sept. 6 in Seattle.

“We’re looking at getting back into the studio quite quickly,” says Dorough, adding that BSB may work again with Swedish producer/writer Max Martin, who worked with the group on “I Want it That Way,” “Shape of My Heart,” “Quit Playing Games (With My Heart)”.

“We want to hopefully have something ready to go or at least be heavily into it by the end of the year and have something out towards the beginning of next year,” Dorough says.

Dorough and McLean also have solo projects in the works.

Nick Carter is a Nose Picker

CAUGHT!

Backstreet boy Nick Carter takes a quick pick (and we’re not talking the lottery here) as he waits to check in on Monday at LAX International Airport in Los Angeles, Calif.

Was it a pick? A scratch? Do we have nasal penetration? Ah, the joys of the nose pick. Just don’t get caught in public!

Backstreet’s back, all right! The Backstreet Boys Unbreakable Tour kicks off on Feb. 16 in Tokyo, Japan and ends on May 14 in London, England.

Unfortunately, (or fortunately for some) the Boys haven’t announced any stops in the U.S. yet.
