Jake Gyllenhaal goes shirtless as he crosses a freezing river with Bear Grylls on an episode of Man vs. Wild airing Monday (July 11).

The 30-year-old actor traveled to Iceland with Bear to cross mountains and check out glaciers and active volcanoes!

“The wild is always very revealing – not only physically but mentally. You’ve got to smile when it’s driving horizontal hail and be able to face your fears and just get on and do it – and on both of those accounts, Jake came up strong,” Bear said.

If you missed watching Jake and Bear take on the wild, the Man vs. Wild episode will be replayed on Sunday (July 17) at 10/9c on Discovery!

Jake Gyllenhaal gears up for a tough two days in the wild with Bear Grylls in a video sneak peek of July 11′s episode of Man vs. Wild.

The 30-year-old actor joined Bear in “the brutal Icelandic terrain dominated by mountains, glaciers and active volcanoes, coping with some of the worst conditions known to man.”

Jake‘s episode of Man vs. Wild airs on Monday, July 11 at 9/8c on Discovery.

Jake Gyllenhaal joins Man vs. Wild star Bear Grylls on a two-day survival experience in Iceland in the upcoming season premiere of the Discovery Channel show.

The 30-year-old actor trekked through the Icelandic landscape surrounded by mountains, glaciers, and active volcanoes with Bear.

“For me, it’s all about discovery,” Jake said.

“The wild is always very revealing – not only physically but mentally. You’ve got to smile when it’s driving horizontal hail and be able to face your fears and just get on and do it – and on both of those accounts, Jake came up strong,” Bear added.

Survival expert Bear Grylls plays with son Marmaduke, 19 months, at the Hard Rock Cafe’s celebration for the Step It Up campaign on Tuesday in New York City.

Bear, 33, is most well known for battling the elements at various locations around the world on Discovery Channel’s Man vs. Wild. He was also seen posing earlier today with British singer Natasha Bedingfield (pictured below).
