'SNL' Cast Reveal Secrets Behind Their Trump Characters!

THR‘s latest cover features SNL‘s biggest Donald Trump character spoofs including Alec Baldwin as the president, Melissa McCarthy as Sean Spicer, Beck Bennett as Vladimir Putin, Kate McKinnon as Kellyanne Conway and Jeff Sessions, and Cecily Strong as Melania Trump.

Here’s what the comedians had to share with the mag:

Alec, on playing Trump: “I’m not going to name names, but a cabinet member walked up to me at a restaurant in Manhattan — Manhattan, that’s a hint — and he goes, ‘I gotta tell you something. This thing you’re doing is good, it’s really good,’ ” says the 59-year-old actor. “He goes, ‘I’ll get fired if anybody quoted me saying this, but that’s exactly what he’s like when you do it.’”

Melissa, on transforming into Sean Spicer: “I don’t do impressions. I don’t have the ear for it. But when I read the script, I was like, ‘Oh, God, that is juicy, but I don’t understand how we’re going to physically make it work.’ To which the amazing special effects person at SNL was like, ‘Oh, yeah, that’s not that big of a deal. That’s gonna take me, like, 15 minutes.’ I was like, ‘Hey!’”

Beck, on why his Putin is shirtless: “When I did the cold open with John Goodman [as Rex Tillerson] and Alec [in December], Lorne wanted to make sure that my Putin impression was entertaining throughout the scene as opposed to just one silly beat, which is what it had been before. He said, ‘Let him be that sort of Bond villain — he enjoys his power, he’s having fun with everybody. People want to laugh with him, so let’s see the silly side of Putin.’ Then when we were rehearsing it, he came by and said (in Michaels’ voice), ‘And with the shirt off.’”

VIDEO: Mark Hamill Reacts to 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' Title Announcement

Mark Hamill is relieved that the title of Star Wars: Episode 8 has finally been revealed!

The 65-year-old actor explained that director Rian Johnson told him about the title during filming, but he had no interest in knowing!

“I said, ‘Don’t tell me these things! I talk in my sleep!’ They have us so jacked up with paranoia over leaks. It’s funny, back when we were making the original, nobody cared,” he laughed.

Mark added that he thought the title had a “real samurai” vibe and enjoyed the minimalism.

Check out Mark‘s entire reaction to the title reveal in the video below…

VIDEO: SNL's Putin Mocks Trump's Inauguration Crowd Size in Cold Open

Tonight’s Saturday Night Live cold open featured Russian President Vladimir Putin (played by SNL cast member Beck Bennett) taking a jab at U.S. President Donald Trump‘s inauguration crowd size, comparing it to the 2017 Women’s March crowd size.

Donald, let’s talk as friends,” Beck‘s Vladimir said. “You’re not off to a great start, man. I thought you’d be better at this.”

“However, I’m glad to see so many people showed up at your inauguration,” he added as a photo of Saturday’s Women’s March on Washington flashed on the screen.

“Oh wait, that’s the Women’s March. Here is inauguration,” he went on, showing another photo.

As you probably know, Donald reportedly made false claims about his inauguration crowd size, saying the media lied.
