You may be upset to hear that Michael Phelps will NOT be competing in the summer Olympic games this year.

The decorated swimmer has won 23 gold medals in past Olympic games, but this year, will be taking on a different role: swimming commentator for NBC!

“From the moment he joined our team at Trials, Michael‘s ability to provide insightful analysis, thoughtful commentary and tell entertaining stories was apparent,” Molly Solomon, the president of NBC Olympics Production and an executive producer, said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to have him join us in Tokyo and our audience will benefit from hearing the perspective of the most decorated Olympian of all time.”

You may not realize, Michael is a huge family man now and has a lovely wife and three sons!

Michael Phelps and wife Nicole are adding to their family!

The 33-year-old Olympic swimmer took to Instagram on Sunday afternoon (March 31) to announce that he and his wife are expecting a third child together.

Michael and Nicole are already parents to sons Boomer, 2, and Beckett, 1.

Michael and Nicole have been together since 2009 before tying the knot in 2016.

Michael Phelps and his wife Nicole Johnson sit in the audience with their two kids at the 2018 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Sports Awards on Thursday (July 19) at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif.

The 33-year-old Olympic gold medalist had two-year-old Boomer on his lap while Nicole held five-month-old son Beckett on her lap.

The show was pre-taped and will air on Nickelodeon on Friday night. It looks like Michael got the chance to compete in a Double Dare challenge during the show!

Michael Phelps and his wife Nicole have welcomed their second son into the world!

The baby boy was born on Monday (February 12) and Michael announced the news the next day on Instagram.

“Magical moments yesterday… Nicole and I would like to introduce Beckett Richard Phelps to the world!” Michael captioned a photo of his family. “We had a healthy baby boy and a healthy mama. I truly do feel like the happiest man in the world. Being able to build our family to now 4 (6 with doggies) is so incredible! #familyof4now.”

Michael and Nicole‘s son Boomer will turn two in May. Congrats to the happy family!
