Model Beverly Johnson Revealed That A Pool Was Once Drained After a Fashion Shoot Because Of Her

Beverly Johnson is speaking out about some of the racist acts that have been against her in her long modeling career.

The 67-year-old model spoke with People in their new issue and recalled one instance where after a fashion shoot, a pool was drained because of the fact she was Black.

“What you have to realize is that I was the only Black girl on every shoot,” Beverly shared. “Once in the 1970s, we were at a five-star hotel. I got into the pool. And all of a sudden, the editor came out and made everybody get out.”

She says straight to the point that “they drained the pool.”

“Twenty years later, one of the models told me it was because of me. But I had blocked it out. In order to survive, I would make myself not react. Like Teflon.”

Draining pools has long been stemmed in racism, when pool attendants asked Black Americans to provide “health certificates” proving they were disease-free.

In her essay, Beverly also opened up about how she used to do her own makeup and hair on the sets, because there was no one trained in how to do Black hair or makeup.

“The people they hired had no idea what to do with my hair. So I’d go to the bathroom and wet my hair or slick it back with Vaseline and put it in a chignon,” she recalled. “Same with make-up — I’d do my own.”

Just recently, Kelly Rowland opened up about her own experience about hiring Black stylists for her projects.

Supermodel Beverly Johnson Is the Latest Bill Cosby Accuser, Says He Drugged Her in Detailed Essay

Supermodel Beverly Johnson just released a very telling essay for Vanity Fair in which she details how Bill Cosby drugged her in a supposed attempt to assault her.

“Now let me explain this: I was a top model during the 70s, a period when drugs flowed at parties and photo shoots like bottled water at a health spa. I’d had my fun and experimented with my fair share of mood enhancers. I knew by the second sip of the drink Cosby had given me that I’d been drugged”and drugged good,” the 62-year-old model described in her essay.

“As I felt my body go completely limp, my brain switched into automatic-survival mode. That meant making sure Cosby understood that I knew exactly what was happening at that very moment,” Beverly continued. “‘You are a motherf*cker aren’t you?’ That’s the exact question I yelled at him as he stood there holding me, expecting me to bend to his will. I rapidly called him several more ‘motherf*ckers.’”

“At a certain moment it became clear that I would be fighting a losing battle with a powerful man so callous he not only drugged me, but he also gave me the number to the bedroom he shared with his wife. How could I fight someone that boldly arrogant and out of touch? In the end, just like the other women, I had too much to lose to go after Bill Cosby,” Beverly added.
