Beyonce and Jay Z met with the family members of Freddie Gray and Mike Brown at the Rally 4 Peace concert on Sunday (May 10) in Baltimore, Maryland.
The concert, which was streamed in part on Jay Z‘s Tidal, was meant to bring awareness and peace to the area after weeks of massive protests.
Freddie, a 25-year-old African American man, was placed under arrest in April and ended up in a coma in the police car. He died from injuries to his spinal cord. Michael was fatally shot last year by Darren Wilson, a Ferguson police officer. Both deaths brought protests to the cities of Baltimore and Ferguson, respectively.
Prince performed at the concert and gave his thoughts to the crowd: “The system is broken. We gotta fix it by building a new one right here, right now. It’s gonna be all right, y’all. It’s gonna be all right. We’re gonna figure this thing out,” Prince said.
After the concert, Beyonce and Jay Z, along with Alicia Keys and Bey‘s mom Tina Knowles, posed for photos with the family members. See the photos below..
