'Boardwalk Empire' Ending Series After Upcoming Fifth Season

HBO’s hit series Boardwalk Empire will complete its run after the upcoming fifth season in fall 2014, the network has confirmed.

The news was revealed during HBO’s panel at the 2014 TCA Winter Tour on Thursday (January 9).

Boardwalk Empire, which stars Steve Buscemi, Kelly Macdonald, and Michael Shannon, debuted back in 2010 and was nominated for eighteen Emmy Awards for its first season. It also won the Golden Globe for Best Television Series – Drama for the first season.

“After much discussion with my creative team and HBO, we’ve decided to wrap the series after such a great run and look forward to bringing it to a powerful and exciting conclusion,” series creator Terence Winter said in a statement.

'Boardwalk Empire' Renewed for Fifth Season by HBO!

Great news Boardwalk Empire fans: the show has been renewed for a fifth season by HBO!

“Thanks to Terry Winter, Martin Scorsese, Tim Van Patten, Howard Korder and their stellar team, Boardwalk Empire remains in a class by itself,” HBO programming president Michael Lombardo said in a statement about the period drama’s renewal. “I look forward to another electrifying season of this impeccably crafted series.”

The fourth season of Boardwalk Empire began its run earlier this month and has averaged about 7.5 million viewers for the season so far.

Boardwalk Empire stars Steve Buscemi, Vincent Piazza, Kelly MacDonald, Michael Shannon, and many more.

Ashlee Simpson & Kelly MacDonald: 'Boardwalk Empire' Premiere!

Ashlee Simpson and a pregnant Kelly MacDonald hit the red carpet at the season three premiere of Boardwalk Empire held at the Ziegfeld Theater on Wednesday (September 5) in New York City.

The 36-year-old Scottish star of the show was joined by her co-stars Jack Huston, Michael Shannon, Vincent Piazza (Ashlee‘s beau), Gretchen Mol, Steve Buscemi, and Bobby Cannavale!

Also at the event was Stanley Tucci with his new wife Felicity Blunt.

Boardwalk Empire season three premieres on September 16 on HBO!

'Boardwalk Empire' Cast Wins at SAG Awards 2012!

Steve Buscemi and Gretchen Mol attend the 2012 Screen Actors Guild Awards held at the Shrine Auditorium on Sunday (January 29) in Los Angeles.

The 54-year-old actor, who wore head to toe BOSS Black, won the award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series for the second year in a row!

The entire cast of Boardwalk Empire also received the award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series for a second year in a row.

HBO's 'Boardwalk Empire' Renewed For Second Season

HBO’s latest series Boardwalk Empire is a hit and has already been renewed for a second season after the airing of its premiere episode!

The period piece about the 1920′s Prohibition-era in Atlantic City was viewed by more than 4.8 million people during its premiere broadcast. A total of 7.1 million people watched the show including two additional broadcasts.

Boardwalk Empire had the biggest debut for an HBO series in the past six years, according to Variety.

The show, which airs on Sunday nights, stars Steve Buscemi, Michael Pitt, Michael Shannon, and Kelly Macdonald.
