Alicia Keys Pays Tribute to Kobe Bryant While Opening Grammys 2020, Sings with Boyz II Men (Video)

Alicia Keys is hosting the 2020 Grammys and she opened the show by paying tribute to Kobe Bryant, who was tragically killed in a helicopter crash earlier in the day.

The 39-year-old singer appeared on stage after Lizzo‘s opening performance at the event on Sunday (January 26) at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

“Earlier today, Los Angeles, America and the whole wide world lost a hero,” Alicia said in her speech. “We’re literally standing here in the house that Kobe Bryant built.”

“Right now, Kobe and his daughter, Gianna, and all those who have been tragically lost today are in our hearts, our spirit, our prayers,” she added.

Alicia was joined by Boyz II Men for a performance their song “It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye.”

As of this week, it’s official: Lil Nas X and his horses in the back just saddled up and rode right into a prestigious pack of songs that have topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the longest amount of time in the chart’s six-decade history.

The 20-year-old “Old Town Road” viral superstar joins a very small group of top pop performers and vocalists in the group, including Mariah Carey, Elton John and Whitney Houston.

“Old Town Road” is now tied for the most weeks at number one ever along with two other hit songs.

The Grand Ole Opry, in association with the Ray Charles Foundation, celebrated the songs of Ray Charles and the influence this revolutionary artist had on country music.

The event was taped for a TV special that will premiere in February 2019 on public television stations nationwide!

Bruno Mars Announces New Special Guests for Upcoming Tour

Bruno Mars has announced the special guests who will replace Cardi B on the upcoming finale leg of the 24K Magic World Tour!

Cardi B was originally slated to join Bruno on the tour, but she dropped out as she is not ready to go back on the road after giving birth to a baby girl this summer.

Bruno has been traveling around the globe on the 24K Magic World Tour since March 2017 and he will have made over 135 stops around the world when the tour wraps in November.

The final leg of the tour will end in Bruno‘s home state of Hawaii with a record-breaking three shows at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu.

Charlie unveiled the track on Thursday (January 4) as thanks to his patient fans.

“So I have good news and bad news. The bad news is that I have to push the album release date. I’m producing this album all myself and with that comes a lot of work, and in my opinion, the album is not perfect yet. However, it will still come out this year, and soon,” he wrote on Twitter.

“But to make it up to all of you, here’s the good news. I’m putting out a song I did with Boys II Men tomorrow. And it’s probably one of my favorite songs I’ve ever written. Love you guys and thank you for understanding.”

Voicenotes will now be released on May 11.

Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber are officially tied with Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men!

After 16 consecutive weeks, “Despacito” is now officially tied with Mariah and Boyz II Men‘s “One Sweet Day” for longest No. 1 run in Billboard Hot 100 chart history, Billboard reports.

Mariah originally set the record between 1995 and 1996, holding the record for over two decades.

Along with the Hot 100 record, the “Despacito” video (sans Justin) recently became the most-watched music video of all time on YouTube. As of now, the clip has over 3.4 billion views.

The question remains: will “Despacito” beat Mariah‘s record next week?
