Bryan Cranston arrives at Cinemas Palme D’Or, the movie theater he owns, on Friday (May 27) in Palm Desert, Calif.
The 60-year-old Oscar-nominated actor, who played the role of former president Lyndon B. Johnson in the HBO movie All the Way, recently revealed what he thinks LBJ would think of Donald Trump.
“He’d say somethin’ like, ‘What the hell is goin’ on in Washington? This guy is gonna be the Republican leader? My God, things have changed since I’ve been here!’” Bryan told ABC News.
Bryan also talked about if there are parallels between the political landscape today and in the film.
“This presidential election is unlike anything we’ve ever seen. And talk about power: We have a power broker as the presumptive Republican presidential candidate who is devoid of substance, so he has power without substance,” Bryan said. “I will do everything in my power to make sure that he’s not the president.”
Bryan Cranston flashes a smile alongside Anthony Mackie while attending his Haute Living & Jet Smarter Cover Celebration held on Wednesday (May 18) in New York City.
The All The Way co-stars were joined by co-founder of Haute Media Group Seth Semilof and artist Paul Gerben, who presented Anthony a custom Captain America painting in celebration of the release of Captain America: Civil War.
Bryan, who plays Lyndon Johnson in All The Way, recently opened up about the possibility of him running for office someday.
“I think I would, but it would be a conversation with my wife,” Bryan expressed (via Time). “Because it’s a life change for everyone, and it’s not fair to make it a unilateral decision. I’m hopefully an enlightened adult, and I’m in a marriage, and I don’t want to destroy that and change the rules. If I found some neat little hamlet, and I thought I’d like to live here but there are certain things that we can improve upon, then sure—a councilperson of a small town or a mayor or something.”

That same day, Bryan stopped by CNN to promote All The Way and talk about the 2016 presidential race and his thoughts on Donald Trump.
“So I will say right here, right now, on national television that I believe Donald Trump loves this country,” Bryan expressed. “I truly believe that and I know he does. It’s just that his approach on how to remedy America’s problems differ greatly from what I think should happen.”
“If it didn’t work for them, I support their opinion, as opposed to trying to tell them or change their opinions or tell them they’re wrong. How you feel is how you feel,” Bryan added. “So if I were to meet a Trump supporter, the first thing I would want to discuss is what are the issues that led you to that decision and I want to know about that. And not to make them wrong, but just understand.”
