Serayah and Bryshere “Yazz” Gray are all smiles on the December/January 2017 cover of Seventeen magazine, on newsstands November 22.

Here’s what the Empire duo had to share with the mag:

Serayah on role models: “You can dream on something, meditate on it, and want it, but what’s equally important is doing all the work you possibly can… I always look at Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant�”they were the first ones in the gym and the last ones in the gym. And I just was watching a documentary on Beyoncé, where a background singer was saying that Beyoncé’s the first and last one in the stadium to rehearse. I thought that was awesome. It’s those moments that count, and that’s why those people are who they are.”

Serayah on overcoming her insecurity: “I hated my hair�”it always felt poufy and curly and people would poke it and ask, ‘Why is it so big?’ I started dyeing and cutting it and trying to make it as straight as possible. Then I got this role on Empire where I wear my hair big and natural, and I’ve come to realize it’s beautiful.”

Yazz on why he and Serayah aren’t a real-life couple: “She’s a cool girl. She’s very attractive, but we’re just so much friends, like homies.”

Serayah, on what men get wrong about women: “Some guys are nice but put on a bad-boy exterior because they’re trying to protect themselves. A girl just wants to know you care and you’re listening. Bad boys are such an issue, man. I’m learning it’s all about the nice guys.”

Bryshere, on what women get wrong about men: “Y’all have pretty much got us figured out. But the thing is, we’re not all dogs and opportunists…”

Bryshere, on dating co-stars: “I say keep it professional. Unless it’s Halle Berry. I wish Halle would get a role on Empire. I’m waiting!”

Serayah, on dating co-stars: “It could happen. If I’ve known them for a while and it’s authentic, I’m not opposed.”

Taraji P. Henson presents an award on stage at the 2016 BET Awards held at the Microsoft Theater on Sunday (June 26) in Los Angeles.

Later that evening, the Empire star won the Best Actress award for her work on the show. Her Empire co-star Bryshere Gray, who plays her son on the show, presented her the award with his New Edition co-stars. Congrats to Taraji on the big award!

The 47-year-old actor and his on-again love revealed that they are expecting their second child together and Taraji looked very excited to see the baby bump!

Terrence and Mira, who married in 2013 and split in July before reconciling, have a one-year-old son named Qirin and he also has three children from a previous marriage.

Taraji P. Henson is all smiles as she hits the stage at the 2016 Fox Network Upfront in support of her hit show Empire held at The Beacon Theatre on Monday (May 16) in New York City.

The 45-year-old actress was joined at the event by her co-stars Jussie Smollett, Serayah, Bryshere Gray, Kaitlin Doubleday and special guest Ne-Yo.

That same day, Jussie and his co-stars hit up the 2016 Fox Upfront Presentation Allstar Party alongside Empire co-creator Lee Daniels‘ new Star cast mates Queen Latifah and Benjamin Bratt, as well as Cuba Gooding Jr., Sanaa Lathan, John Cena and his partner Nikki Bella.

“The fans are on another level, it’s incredible. But you know, we’ll have to wait and see,” Jussie expressed about the upcoming Empire season finale (via ET). “It’s handled in a beautiful way. I think there’s going to be tears and [there's] also going to be a lot of happiness. So you know, it’s OK. It’s going to be great. It’s a phenomenal finale and all questions are going to be answered Wednesday at 9/8 Central, only on Fox.”

Serayah wows in a champagne colored ensemble at the 2016 Human Rights Campaign Los Angeles Gala Dinner held at JW Marriott Los Angeles at L.A. LIVE on Saturday night (March 19) in Los Angeles.

The 20-year-old Empire actress was joined by her co-stars Jussie Smollett and Bryshere Gray as the show was honored at the event.

Shadowhunters actor Matthew Daddario, social influencer Ingrid Nilsen, Maria Bello, Justin Mikita, and Guillermo Diaz were also spotted at the event.

The annual dinner brought together over 1,000 HRC members, friends, family and allies for an evening of celebration and inspiration in the greater Los Angeles area. Featuring a cocktail reception, an extensive silent auction, an elegant dinner, live entertainment and thought-provoking speakers and guests, the event consistently attracts some of the nation’s top figures in politics and entertainment.

The cast of Empire arrives at their 2016 PaleyFest panel held at the Dolby Theater on Friday evening (March 11) in Hollywood.

In attendance at the event were cast members Terrence Howard, Jussie Smollett, Bryshere ‘Yazz’ Gray, Trai Byers, Kaitlin Doubleday, Grace Gealey, Gabourey Sidibe, Serayah McNeill, and Ta’Rhonda Jones, as well as co-creator Lee Daniels, executive producers Ilene Chaiken, Brian Grazer, and Sanaa Hamri, and moderator Kevin Frazier.

During the panel, the cast was asked about their dream guest stars, which included Adele and Kendrick Lamar, and Gabourey kept whispering “Beyoncé” into her mic, EW reports.
