Sarah Michelle Gellar Sets The Record Straight On If She'll Appear in 'Buffy' Reboot

Sarah Michelle Gellar dons stripes while attending SiriusXM at Super Bowl LIII Radio Row on Friday (February 1) in Atlanta, Ga.

The 41-year-old actress made an appearance on the Micheal Yo Show.

In another interview that day, Sarah Michelle confirmed that she will NOT be a part of the Buffy The Vampire Slayer reboot that’s in the works.

“I don’t know anything about it, honestly,” she told TheWrap. “I think that it’s a great story and I’m glad that it will get retold and hope that people will watch it. But, you know, I’ve told my story with it.”

Last summer, series creator Joss Whedon announced he was developing a Buffy reboot that will star a black actress. A few months after the news, Sarah gave her full support for the project.

FYI: Sarah is wearing an Escada suit, Sarah Flint shoes, and a Strathberry clutch.

Sarah Michelle Gellar Supports 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' Reboot Amid Fan Backlash

Sarah Michelle Gellar is backing the Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot!

The 41-year-old actress – who rose to fame as the titular character in the series for seven seasons before it ended in 2003 – voiced her support for the reboot after fans became very divided on the news.

“At the end of the day, it’s all about great storytelling,” Sarah Michelle told People. “If a story lives on, then I think it should be told in any incarnation it can be told in.”

Back in July, the original series creator Joss Whedon confirmed that he was working on a reboot with a new actress taking over the role of Buffy.

Earlier that day, one of Sarah Michelle‘s former Buffy co-stars also voiced his support for the reboot.

'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' TV Reboot in the Works From Joss Whedon

Exciting news – a Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV reboot is officially in development at 20th Century Fox Television!

Original series creator Joss Whedon is set to executive produce, with writer Monica Owusu-Breen on board to pen the script, Variety reports.

The Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot reportedly does not yet have a script, director, lead actress, or network attached, though the cult favorite is expected to cause a bidding war.
