“News to me,” he simply wrote on Twitter, adding a shrugging emoji.

There was a while where it seemed as if Chris would never return as Captain America: he wrote a post that appeared to say “goodbye” to his character and Marvel after wrapping up Avengers: Endgame. Then, in Endgame, it seemed as if Captain America’s story line was officially ending after a time travel plotline confirmed his character had aged into senior citizenship.

Chris Evans In Talks to Return as Captain America in 'At Least' One Marvel Project (& Maybe Two!)

Chris Evans is reportedly nearing a deal to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as his beloved character Captain America!

There was a while where it seemed as if Chris would never return as Captain America. First, he wrote a post that appeared to say “goodbye” to his character and Marvel after wrapping up Avengers: Endgame. Then, in Endgame, it seemed as if Captain America’s story line was officially ending after a time travel plotline confirmed his character had aged into senior citizenship.

Deadline is now reporting that the deal is not yet done but is on track for him to return in “at least one Marvel property with the door open for a second film.” The site is also reporting that it seems more likely that the appearance will be similar to what Robert Downey Jr. did after Iron Man 3, appearing in Captain America: Civil War and Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Could he be appearing in a future Marvel film? A Disney+ Marvel project? It’s unclear right now, and Marvel had no comment. Stay tuned!

Chris Evans Explains Why He Almost Turned Down Captain America Role

Chris Evans is definitely most known for his work as Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and he says almost turned down the role.

The 38-year-old actor had worked with Marvel in the past when he played Johnny Storm/Human Torch in two Fantastic Four movies in 2005 and 2007.

Chris was asked to do a screen test for Steve Rogers in the first Captain America movie and he turned down the opportunity several times because he wasn’t sure he was ready to be pushed into the spotlight with a high-profile like that one.

“My suffering would be my own,” Chris told THR.

Marvel kept pursuing him for the role and eventually offered him the job without even doing a screen test. Chris shared the same agent as Robert Downey Jr. and they had a conversation that led him to signing on for the project.

“It was the best decision I’ve ever made, and I really owe that to [Marvel boss] Kevin Feige for being persistent and helping me avoid making a giant mistake,” Chris said. “To be honest, all the things that I was fearing never really came to fruition.”

Anthony Mackie Confirms Sam Wilson Will Become Captain America in 'Falcon & The Winter Soldier'

Anthony Mackie has confirmed that Sam Wilson indeed does become Captain America in Disney+’s Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Speaking at the premiere of Altered Carbon, the 41-year-old actor addressed taking on the persona of the fictional superhero as a black man.

“With the idea of being a black man and becoming Captain America, it’s been a daunting task because I think, at this day and age in America, I think we are open-minded to the idea of having my face represent us, as a country,” Anthony shared. “And my race represent us as a country because we’re truly a melting pot. So there is no distinctive look or feel or design of an American. We’re all Americans.”

He adds, “To be Captain America, I want my Captain America to represent everybody. Not just a specific group of people.”

Anthony also discussed how fans will get to know Sam more in the series, which launches in August.

“You really get to know Sam Wilson. You really get to know Bucky Barnes, as individuals and human beings and their thoughts and feelings. So, I’m excited for people to see that part of Sam because in Avengers and in Captain America, he really was just like there for a brief time whenever Steve needed him. But now you get to see the ins and outs of his home life,” he says.

He continued, “So these shows are very different than the movies. These shows are art pieces. They are individual… They’re not origin stories. They’re more a day in the life story.”

Chris Evans Talks to Scarlett Johansson About Returning to Marvel Universe & Captain America's Ending

Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson have a long history together, from working together in the 2004 comedy The Perfect Score to starring together in the Marvel franchise and eventually having the biggest movie of all time with Avengers: Endgame.

Now, the two actors are reuniting to talk about their careers in a conversation for Variety Studio: Actors on Actors.

Scarlett asked Chris if he’d be open to returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe after his character’s demise in Endgame.

“You never say never. I love the character. I don’t know [...] It’s not a hard no, but it’s not an eager yes either. There are other things that I’m working on right now,” Chris said. “I think Cap[tain America] had such a tricky act to stick the landing, and I think they did a really nice job letting him complete his journey. If you’re going to revisit it, it can’t be a cash grab. It can’t be just because the audience wants to be excited. What are we revealing? What are we adding to the story? A lot of things would have to come together.”

Scarlett added, “It was such a beautiful cathartic ending, and I loved that for Steve. I think he deserved that. It was all his happiness.”

“It’d be a shame to sour that. I’m very protective of it. It was such a precious time, and jumping onto the movie was a terrifying prospect to me. I said no a bunch of times, and there’s a million and one ways it could have gone wrong. It almost feels like maybe we should let this one sit,” Chris said.
