Mariah Carey is opening up about the death of her friend Prince and she says she’ll “never get over” the loss.

“I’ve loved Prince since I first heard him and then later in life I got to know him. He helped me through so many moments where I needed somebody to guide me through,” Mariah said in an interview with ET‘s Carly Steel. “[He was] just a true genius… There will never be anybody else like him.”

“There will never be anybody else like him and it’s such a loss that he’s gone now because he could have been one of those people that we see every year and we get excited because it’s Prince,” she added. “I will never get over it. I didn’t think I was going to be able to do the show tonight.”

Mariah performed a concert in Paris on Thursday night (April 21) just hours after finding out about the death. She dedicated “One Sweet Day” to him during the show and said Prince didn’t like people covering his songs.

Patricia Clarkson arrives at the 2016 Vanity Fair Oscar Party after the 2016 Oscars held at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts on Sunday (February 28) in Beverly Hills, Calif.

Giuliana Rancic hits the red carpet in a golden down at the 2016 Grammy Awards held at the Staples Center on Monday (February 15) in Los Angeles.

The 41-year-old television personality is hosting the E! Live from the Red Carpet special this evening alongside Ryan Seacrest.

Other television correspondents on the red carpet included Carly Steel, Keltie Knight, and E!’s Ross Mathews.

Blake Lively keeps close to hubby Ryan Reynolds while stepping out at the 2016 amfAR New York Gala held at Cipriani Wall Street on Wednesday evening (February 10) in New York City.

The cute couple was joined at the event by American Horror Story‘s Cheyenne Jackson and Girls star Jemima Kirke.

Also in attendance were budding actress Melissa Bolona and ET reporter Carly Steel.
