The Good Wife's Graham Phillips Celebrates Opening of Sondheim's 'Sunday' Musical in Pasdena with Krystina Alabado!

Graham Phillips is back on stage, this time taking on an iconic role in a Stephen Sondheim musical!

The 29-year-old actor is taking on the lead role in Sunday in the Park with George and he celebrated at the opening night performance on Sunday (February 19) at the Pasadena Playhouse in Pasadena, Calif.

Graham was joined by co-star Krystina Alabado, who is taking on the role of Dot.

The Los Angeles Times notes, “Pasadena Playhouse has pulled out all the stops for Sunday In the Park With George, the first main-stage offering of the festival. Directed by Sarna Lapine, this sumptuous production boasts a full orchestra under the music direction of Broadway veteran Andy Einhorn and an extensive (and no doubt murderously expensive) cast.”

Some of the celebs in attendance for the opening included Rosie O’Donnell, Anna Camp, Alfred Molina, Once Upon a Time‘s Lana Parrilla, Young Sheldon‘s Iain Armitage, Sex/Life‘s Jonathan Sadowski, and Broadway star Carmen Cusack.

Jesse Tyler Ferguson & Eric McCormack Attend the 'Bright Star' Opening in L.A.!

Steve Martin and Edie Brickell, who wrote the music for the show, stepped out on the red carpet.

The musical stars Carmen Cusack and AJ Shively, who both appeared in the show on Broadway.

Tony Nominee Carmen Cusack to Reprise 'Bright Star' Role in Los Angeles!

Carmen Cusack received a Tony nomination last year for her work in the Broadway musical Bright Star and now she’ll be reprising her role for the Los Angeles production!

The show will play the Ahmanson Theatre from October 11 through November 19 with an opening night performance scheduled for October 20.

Inspired by a real event, this original musical tells a sweeping tale of love and redemption set against the rich backdrop of the American South in the 1920s and ’40s. Propelled by an ensemble of onstage musicians and dancers, the story unfolds as a rich tapestry of deep emotion, beautiful melodies and enthralling performances.

Steve Martin and Edie Brickell wrote the music for the show and they received a Tony nomination for Best Score for their work. The musical got five nominations in all, including Best Musical.

Tickets for the L.A. engagement of Bright Star go on sale on Wednesday (July 26).

Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Jonathan Groff, & More Sing Sondheim Tunes for One Special Night!

The Los Angeles Philharmonic provided the music while Jesse, Jonathan Groff, Vanessa Williams, and more performers sang some of composer Stephen Sondheim‘s most famous tunes.

The highlights of the night were Jesse singing “Franklin Shepard Inc.” from Merrily We Roll Along, Jonathan belting out “Being Alive” from Company, and Vanessa doing a mash-up of Follies‘ “Losing My Mind” and Merrily‘s “Not a Day Goes By” with Solea Pfeiffer.

The other performers included Sarah Uriarte Berry, Phillip Boynkin, Lewis Cleale, Carmen Cusack, Claybourne Elder, and Ruthie Ann Miles.

Pia Toscano Will Star in Scorsese Themed 'For the Record'

Pia Toscano is set to join some of Broadway’s biggest stars in the upcoming production of For the Record inspired by Martin Scorsese films.

The former American Idol contestant will appear alongside Tony winner John Lloyd Young, Tony nominee Carmen Cusack, Grammy nominee B. Slade, and more. The production will run at Los Angeles’ Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts from September 21 through October 16.

For The Record: Scorsese – American Crime Requiem will “center on Marty’s Place – a four-tier venue rising from the orchestra pit to the light grid – and take audiences from a Lower East Side dive bar to an Italian restaurant, a Las Vegas casino and a classic rock concert stage,” according to THR.

Some of the films highlighted in the show will be GoodFellas, Casino, The Departed, The Wolf of Wall Street and more.

Cynthia Erivo & Jane Krakowski Win Big at Drama Desk Awards 2016!

Cynthia Erivo and Jane Krakowski win big at the 2016 Drama Desk Awards held at Anita’s Way on Sunday (June 5) in New York City.

Cynthia, who stars in The Color Purple revival, won for Outstanding Actress in a Musical, while Jane, who stars in She Loves Me, won for Outstanding Featured Actress in a Musical.

Also winning big that evening were Fiddler on the Roof‘s Danny Burstein and WaitressChristopher Fitzgerald for their roles in their respective musicals.

Other musical theater actors in attendance included She Loves Me cast members Laura Benanti, Zachary Levi, and Nicholas Barasch, Waitress composer and lyricist Sara Bareilles and star of the show Jessie Mueller, Bright Star‘s Carmen Cusack and AJ Shivley, The Color Purple‘s Danielle Brooks, and Broadway stars Khris Davis, Montego Glover and Laura Osnes.
