Carol Burnett is paying tribute to her former The Carol Burnett Show co-star Tim Conway, who passed away at the age of 85.

“I’m heartbroken,” the 86-year-old actress and comedian told Deadline. “He was one in a million, not only as a brilliant comedian but as a loving human being. I cherish the times we had together both on the screen and off. He’ll be in my heart forever.”

Tim had been suffering from Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH), which is when excess cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) accumulates in the brain’s ventricles and causes many side effects.

Tim began working on The Carol Burnett Show in 1975 and won Emmys for his work in 1973 (where he acted as a guest), 1977 and 1978.

The couple stepped out for the Broadway musical on Tuesday evening (April 23) at the Marquis Theatre in New York City.

They were also joined at the musical by Rose Byrne and Bobby Cannavale.

Other attendees included Debra Messing, Kristin Chenoweth, Bryan Cranston, Tyra Banks, Jane Krakowski, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Carol Burnett.

“WOW. Tonight was EPIC. @Tootsiemusical opened tonight on #Broadway and it was Amazinggggggggg! It is the funniest musical I’ve ever seen in my life. Run to see it. You never know who you’ll see there!” Debra wrote on her Instagram after the show.

Tootsie, based on the 1982 movie, follows an out-of-work actor who reinvents himself as actress Dorothy Michaels to wins the part in a soap opera.

Carol Burnett‘s memoir “Carrie and Me,” a tribute to her late daughter Carrie Hamilton, will be turned into a movie.

Tina Fey is among the producers who will bring the story to the big screen.

The film will “follow the highs and lows of Burnett’s life as a working mother, actress, and producer – all told through her relationship with her daughter Carrie,” according to Deadline.

Carrie, who battled drug addiction as a teen and led a sober life as an adult, passed away at the age of 38 from cancer.

Kaley Cuoco took to her Instagram Story on Monday (January 7) to slam a rumor that she didn’t participate in a standing ovation for Carol Burnett at the 2019 Golden Globes.

Carol received the first ever Carol Burnett Award at the show and gave a moving speech.

“There’s one thing I want to address, which again I don’t normally do. I was reading some comments about the evening, and I saw a bunch of people posting that I didn’t stand up during Carol Burnett‘s speech. Are you crazy? Not only was I standing, I was bawling,” Kaley said. “You can better believe that I was standing and completely touched by her speech—a speech that I will never forget and that I will be able to tell my own children that I was in the room that day. And the words she spoke touched me to my core. So, I don’t know what show you were watching to go and tell me that I didn’t stand for Carol Burnett and how disappointed you were in me.”

“She’s one of my favorite people and has truly, like I said, paved the way for my career and a bunch of silly women like me who get to mess around and make jokes on camera and make fun of themselves because of what Carol Burnett did,” she continued. “So don’t come at me. I know what I was doing, and I was standing. With that being said it was a magical evening. I am so grateful for my husband and my glam squad and that our jobs give us nights like this. I’m ready to go to bed now and go to work tomorrow at The Big Bang.”

Carol Burnett is the honoree of the first ever Carol Burnett Award!

The 85-year-old TV icon took the stage at the 2019 Golden Globe Awards to receive the awards show’s new top honor in television achievement.

During her speech, Carol reflected on her The Carol Burnett Show – which ran for 11 seasons on CBS from 1967 to 1978 and won 25 Emmys.

“We have been granted a gift, a canvas to paint with our talent, one that can make people laugh or cry, or maybe do both,” Carol shared about working in TV.

Carol continued: “I’m just happy that our show happened when it did and I can look back and say once more, ‘I’m so glad we had this time together.’”

Carol Burnett steps out on the red carpet at the 2019 Golden Globe Awards on Sunday (January 6) at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif.

The legendary actress will be receiving the self-titled Carol Burnett Award during the event this evening. She met up with actress Amy Adams on the red carpet.

“When I was a kid growing up out here in Hollywood with my grandmother, we would go to the premieres and hang over the ropes,” Carol said on the red carpet (via People). “I had my little autograph book with me and whenever one of them stopped, it meant so much to me at that time. So I know that when somebody feels that way towards all of us, you have to pay back.”

“I don’t answer every letter, but I answer mostly [the ones] from kids,” she added. “I’m getting fan mail from 10-year-olds! If they leave me a phone number, I’ll call ’em.”

Legendary performer Carol Burnett is set to receive the inaugural 2019 Golden Globe television special achievement award.

From here on out, the award will be known as the Carol Burnett Award, and will be given out yearly at the Golden Globes ceremony!

“For more than 50 years, comedy trailblazer Carol Burnett has been breaking barriers while making us laugh,” HFPA President Meher Tatna said in a statement (via Variety). “She was the first woman to host a variety sketch show, ‘The Carol Burnett Show.’ She was also the first woman to win both the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor and Kennedy Center Honors. And now we add another first to her running list: the first recipient -– and namesake -– of the new Golden Globe top honor for achievement in television, the Carol Burnett Award. We are profoundly grateful for her contributions to the entertainment industry and honored to celebrate her legacy forever at the Golden Globes.”
