Cate Blanchett opened up about her latest Oscar-nominated role in a revealing new interview.

The 53-year-old actress is going into the 2023 Oscars up for Best Actress for her work in TÁR.

She revealed what it was like playing the lead character Lydia Tár, an acclaimed musician with a controversial past, during a conversation with author Maggie Nelson for AnOther.

While speaking, Cate explained what it was like playing a character that her mom said could come across as unlikable. She also revealed what advice director, writer and producer Todd Field had for her after they wrapped on the movie.

The 53-year-old Australian actress posed for photos while arriving at the 2023 Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday night (February 26) at Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles.

For the red carpet, Cate stunned in a black lace and shimmering dress.

Cate is nominated tonight for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for her role in Tár.

Cate Blanchett hit the red carpet in a chic turtleneck look for the premiere of her newest movie, TÁR, held during the 2023 Berlinale Film Festival in Germany on Thursday (February 23).

The 53-year-old actress met up with director Todd Field and co-star Nina Hoss on the red carpet just a few hours after a press conference in support of the flick.

“I think it’s a very challenging and rewarding film,” Cate shared on the red carpet with Reuters.

She added that “when we all made it, we had no inkling that it would have been embraced in the way that it has, which is extraordinary and embraced by so many different pockets of, you know, from the critics to the mainstream awards to the independent spirit.”

TÁR centers on conductor Lydia Tár, who is days away from recording the symphony that will elevate her career. When all elements seem to conspire against her, Lydia’s adopted daughter Petra becomes an integral emotional support for her struggling mother.

Austin Butler and Cate Blanchett have added another award to each of their collections!

The two entertainers won the awards for Best Actor and Best Actress, respectively, at the 2023 EE BAFTA Film Awards held at The Royal Festival Hall on Sunday (February 19) in London, England.

Austin picked up the award for Best Actor for Elvis, beating out The Banshees of Inisherin‘s Colin Farrell, The Whale‘s Brendan Fraser, Good Luck to You Leo Grande‘s Daryl McCormack, Aftersun‘s Paul Mescal, and Living‘s Bill Nighy.

Cate won Best Actress for her work in TAR, beating out The Woman King‘s Viola Davis, Blonde‘s Ana de Armas, Till‘s Danielle Deadwyler, Good Luck to You Leo Grande‘s Emma Thompson, and Everything Everywhere All at Once‘s Michelle Yeoh.

You may be wondering why numerous stars are wearing blue ribbons on the red carpet at the 2023 EE British Academy Film Awards on Sunday (February 19) at Royal Albert Hall in London, England.

The ribbons read “#WithRefugees” on the front and are to show solidarity and support for those who have been displaced, especially amid Russia’s war against Ukraine.

The UNHCR adds, “The #WithRefugees Coalition is a powerful force for good inspiring work in solidarity with people forced to flee all over the world.”
