Charlie Sheen Stopped Taking His HIV Meds, But He's Back On

Charlie Sheen said that he went off his HIV meds in an interview on The Dr. Oz Show, but his manager says he is back on the medication.

The 50-year-old actor’s appearance aired on Tuesday (January 12), but the taping took place on December 8.

Charlie revealed that he was off his meds for a week to receive treatment in Mexico with a doctor who is not licensed to work in the United States.

“I’ve been off my meds for about a week now,” Charlie said. “Am I risking my life? Sure. So what? I was born dead. That part of it doesn’t faze me at all.”

Now, Charlie‘s manager is opening up to People to reveal he is back on his meds.

Charlie is back on his meds. He tried a cure from a doctor in Mexico but the minute the numbers went up, he started taking his medicine,” the rep said. “He said he would start on the plane on the way home and that is exactly what he did.”

Charlie Sheen Wishes He Revealed HIV Diagnosis Sooner

Charlie Sheen is opening up more about being HIV positive.

The 50-year-old actor says he’s in a good place and wishes he revealed the diagnosis sooner.

“I’m really clear, really good, positively focused. It was such a tremendous weight lifted off my shoulders when I made the announcement,” Charlie told The National Enquirer (via HuffPo). “I realized afterwards, I wish I had possibly done it sooner. As we’ll discuss, there were a lot of different elements in the mix that prevented me from doing that.”

Charlie also said, “It was shortly afterwards — I think it was the second day — I said to my mom, ‘This disease picked the wrong guy.’ If anybody can fight this thing and discover a cure, it’s me. I will exhaust every resource available to me. I will sit with every expert. I will move forward until something’s revealed.”

“If there’s a cure out there, I will find it and share it,” he continued. “You have my word.”

“I knew Charlie as the man, and not the myth or the legend,” Natalie explained to Entertainment Tonight.

She added, “Charlie didn’t pay me to keep quiet about his HIV diagnosis or anything else. I was tested. I’ve been tested several times since then, and I also don’t believe I was around when he was diagnosed or contracted the virus.”

“I can definitely say that my recollections at the time are greatly different than the ones that she has mentioned,” Natalie said.
