Charlie Walk Out at Republic Records Following Sexual Harassment Allegations

Charlie Walk is no longer with Republic Records.

The records company and its former president “mutually agreed” to parting ways, according to a statement given to Variety on Wednesday (March 28).

The move comes after five female former employees accused Charlie of sexual harassment. He was initially placed on leave from the company at the end of January, as well as being axed from The Four‘s season finale. He was a judge on the show.

“I did not do these things and this is not who I am. Throughout my career I have always sought to conduct myself professionally and appropriately. It is upsetting to be presented with false claims from long ago that I know to be untrue and were never reported. I support the national discussion taking place right now because I believe fully in the importance in treating everyone with respect and dignity at all times,” Charlie said, defending himself to Rolling Stone at the end of February.

Charlie Walk Placed on Leave at Republic Records & Fired From 'The Four' Amid Sexual Misconduct Allegations

The Republic Records president, who currently appears as a judge on The Four, was placed on leave following two new allegations that emerged on Tuesday (January 30), according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“Republic Records is committed to a safe workplace environment where employees are treated fairly and respectfully. We have retained an outside law firm to conduct an independent investigation of this matter and have encouraged anyone who has relevant information to speak to the firm’s investigators. Mr. Walk has been placed on leave, and will remain in leave for the duration of the investigation,” a spokesman for Universal Music Group said in a statement.

He was also reportedly axed from The Four on the same day. While he will appear on Thursday night’s (February 1) pre-taped episode, he will not appear in next week’s live season finale according to Variety.

Charlie previously responded to an allegation made by Tristan Coopersmith earlier in the week: “It is very upsetting to learn of this untrue allegation made (by) someone who worked with me 15 years ago, without incident,” he said.

The Four's Charlie Walk Responds to Sexual Misconduct Allegations

Music executive Charlie Walk, who is also on the panel for Fox’s The Four: Battle for Stardom, has been accused of sexual misconduct by Tristan Coopersmith.

Tristan wrote an open letter where she described the alleged inappropriate behavior when she worked for him years ago: “You also made me feel sick to my stomach almost everyday. For a year I shuddered at the idea of being called into your office, where you would stealthily close the door and make lewd comments about my body and share your fantasies of having sex with me.”

Tristan also said that he made sexual remarks, put his hand on her thighs while dining out, and one time, pushed her onto his bed in his bedroom.

Charlie responded, saying, “It is very upsetting to learn of this untrue allegation made (by) someone who worked with me 15 years ago, without incident. There has never been a single HR claim against me at any time during my 25+ year career, spanning three major companies. I have consistently been a supporter of the women’s movement and this is the first time I have ever heard of this or any other allegation – and it is false.”

Tristan is already receiving support from some in the music world, including Julia Michael‘s writing partner, Justin Tranter. Justin posted on social media, “I believe you. I support you.” If you don’t know, Julia works with Charlie.
