Chaz Bono looks extremely happy while arriving at the 2009 Outfest event in Los Angeles on Friday (July 10th).
The 40-year-old son of Sonny and Cher recently announced he is undergoing female-to-male gender transition.
Chaz‘s girlfriend, Jennifer Ella accompanied him to the event in West Hollywood. Outfest is the largest film festival for gay/lesbian/transgendered-themed films.

Cher is speaking out for the first time about her daughter Chastity Bono‘s decision to become her son Chaz.
The 63-year-old pop diva tells People, “Chaz is embarking on a difficult journey, but one that I will support. I respect the courage it takes to go through this transition in the glare of public scrutiny, and although I may not understand, I will strive to be understanding. The one thing that will never change is my abiding love for my child.”
Last week, news of Chaz‘s gender reassignment process broke.
Chastity Bono, who is in the process of transitioning from a female to a male, is spotted out and about Los Angeles with girlfriend Jennifer Elia on Monday (June 15).
On Tuesday (June 16), the 40-year-old daughter of Cher, who wants to become Chaz Bono, was also spotted entering a personalized wellness center.
GLAAD recently released a statement “both for him personally and for all who are committed to advancing discussions about fairness and equality for transgender people.”
The news of Chaz‘s gender reassignment process broke last week.
Chastity Bono, daughter of Cher and the late Sonny Bono, is in the process of transitioning from a female to a male.
“Yes, it’s true — Chaz, after many years of consideration, has made the courageous decision to honor his true identity,” publicist Howard Bragman told TMZ of the gender reassignment surgery. “He is proud of his decision and grateful for the support and respect that has already been shown by his loved ones. It is Chaz‘s hope that his choice to transition will open the hearts and minds of the public regarding this issue, just as his ‘coming out’ did nearly 20 years ago. We ask that the media respect Chaz‘s privacy during this long process as he will not be doing any interviews at this time.”
Chastity started the process sometime in March following his 40th birthday.
