Jerry Harris, star of the Netflix original docuseries Cheer, has pleaded not guilty to multiple felony charges of sexual misconduct, Entertainment Weekly reported on Tuesday (December 22).

According to documents obtained by Entertainment Tonight, the 21-year-old pleaded not guilty to a total of seven charges, which include four counts of sexual exploitation of children, one count of receiving child pornography, one count of traveling with the intent to engage in illicit sexual contact with a minor, and one count of enticement.

Jerry did not appear in court in-person. He faces a minimum sentence of 15 years if convicted for each of the sexual exploitation charges and a minimum of 10 years for the enticement charge, ET adds.

The Netflix star has remained behind bars since September, when he was initially arrested on federal charges for producing child pornography. Entertainment Weekly writes that according to a criminal complaint filed in the U.S. District Court in Chicago, Jerry allegedly “contacted the underage boy on a social media application and repeatedly enticed him to produce sexually explicit videos and photographs of himself”. The victim informed Jerry during their first encounter online that he was 13 years old.

Jerry is also being sued by two underage twin brothers for allegedly demanding nude photographs from them and sexually abusing them. The suit, obtained by People days before his arrest, states that the plaintiffs were competitive cheerleaders who met Jerry in 2018. They allege that he used his standing in the cheerleading community to groom the two for abuse.

In September, a representative for Jerry stated: “We categorically dispute the claims made against Jerry Harris, which are alleged to have occurred when he was a teenager. We are confident that when the investigation is completed the true facts will be revealed.” Jerry’s former teammate Gabi Butler issued a statement about the situation on her Instagram. His coach Monica Aldama
also released a statement following his arrest.

The 21-year-old cheerleader was arrested on Thursday (September 17) after an investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct.

Jerry was arrested on “production of child pornography charges” after being accused of soliciting nude photos from two 14-year-old boys, as well as allegedly engaging in sexual conversations with them and asking one of the boys to meet up for sex.

Netflix is breaking its silence after the arrest of Cheer star Jerry Harris.

On Thursday (September 17), the 21-year-old cheerleader was arrested on “production of child pornography charges,” the U.S. Attorney’s office in Chicago said.

Jerry‘s arrest comes after it was revealed earlier this month that he had “solicited sexually explicit photos and sex from minor.”

“Like everyone we are shocked by this news,” a Netflix spokesperson told ABC News in a statement. “Any abuse of minors is a terrible crime and we respect the legal process.”

Jerry is denying the allegations made against him.

Jerry is scheduled to appear in court for a detention hearing on Monday, September 21. If convicted, Jerry could face 15 to 30 years in prison.

He is also being sued over the accusations.

He is now also being sued.

Jerry Harris is facing accusations of soliciting sex and sexually explicit photos from minors and now he is responding to the claims.

It was reported on Monday (September 14) that the FBI executed a search warrant, though he has not been charged with any crime as of now.

Jerry‘s rep responded told ABC News, “We categorically dispute the claims made against Jerry Harris, which are alleged to have occurred when he was a teenager. We are confident that when the investigation is completed the true facts will be revealed.”

Sources told ABC News that the only thing being investigated is Jerry‘s text messages and that no allegations pertain to physical activity.

The allegations were reported to the police by Varsity, a giant in the cheerleading industry, who are required to report any and all accusations by law.

The director for the cheerleading docuseries, which centered around the Navarro cheerleading team, spoke out in an interview with The Wrap.

“We’re still trying to figure that out. There’s enough interest in there being a subsequent season that it’d be silly for us not to explore it. But under the current conditions it’s made it complicated, I’ll say that. We’re still working through it,” Greg Whiteley explained.

“I feel like you have to be careful,” he went on to say about Coach Monica Aldama‘s breakout star success and potential appearance in Season 2.

“While there is some wisdom in leaving people wanting more, there is this temptation to go, ‘Oh my gosh, this is such a great character. We love being around them and the audience just can’t get enough of them.’ The worst thing that you could do is just say, ‘Well, of course, we just got to go back.’”

“At the base of what we do is illustrating some sort of arc. Who is this person? What does this person want? What is their life like? What’s at stake during the time that we’re going to be filming them? And are we able to film whether or not they get what they want, or the fallout of the stakes that they don’t get what they want?” he continued.

“What becomes difficult is if you have filmed that already and an audience has loved it, it’s tough to duplicate it. It’s tough to just go back. But if you do go back, you better be willing to dig a little bit deeper so that there is an arc that you can arrive at that will be pleasing for an audience.”

The Cheer Navarro coach spoke out in an Instagram post on Thursday (March 19) following the news that the annual Daytona cheerleading competition was canceled due to the outbreak.

“I am heartbroken with the circumstances that the world is currently facing. We are in unprecedented times and everyone needs to take precautions for the safety of one another. Because of this pandemic, the Navarro Cheer team’s season has come to an end. Sunday evening Varsity made a decision to cancel the NCA Collegiate National Championship in Daytona Beach, FL. This decision was inevitable as things have progressed and our country is in uncertain times,” she wrote.

“My heart, however, is breaking for the lost memories and the lost time with my beautiful team. I was not ready to say goodbye so quickly. I was not mentally prepared for the team to turn in uniforms, pack their things and leave town. I want to thank the kids for pouring everything they had into this entire year – for the late nights- the games- the community service- the holidays given up. They are fighters and have always given me 100%. Their routine was so beautiful and their work ethic was bar none. I have always been able to control the narrative and resort to plan B or C or even Z. For the first time in my life I had no control and my life has been a roller coaster over the past week. What I do know is that we will be back better than ever!!! ‘God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.’”
