Chris Evans films a scene for his new flick A Many Splintered Thing on Monday (November 19) in Venice Beach, Calif.

The 31-year-old actor horsed around on the beach with co-star Michelle Monaghan for the scene. The film, about unrequited love that motivates a guy (Evans) to write about his experiences, will hit theaters next year.

Here’s what the 34-year-old actor had to share:

On his personal life: “I always thought that if you’re going to be an actor, it would be stupid for everyone to know what I was doing all the time in my personal life because it’s very hard for people when they watch you on screen to see you as someone else.”

On the media: “Don’t let anyone tell you that they don’t read their own press. But I think you have to go on a diet of that stuff. It’s like eating bad food; it affects you after a while.”
