'Smash' Series Finale Recap: Who Won the Tony Awards?

The end came with a celebration of the past few years of hard work in the form of the Tony Awards during the series finale of Smash on Sunday (May 26).

The series started off with the inception of the musical Bombshell based on the life of Marilyn Monroe. The second season introduced the original musical Hit List, which became Bombshell‘s competition as they both made their transitions to Broadway at the same time.

In the two hour season finale, we watched as the characters, played by Katharine McPhee, Megan Hilty, Debra Messing, Jeremy Jordan, and many others, watched the nominations for the Tony Awards be announced. In the second hour of the episode, the awards were handed out at a star-studded ceremony.

Katharine McPhee: 'Smash' Canceled After Two Seasons

It is official – after a ton of speculation over the past few months, Smash has officially been canceled by NBC following two seasons on the air.

The musical drama, which starred Katharine McPhee, Megan Hilty, and Debra Messing, started off its second season with drastically low ratings and eventually got moved to Saturday nights.

The series will end with its two musicals within the show, “Bombshell” and “Hit List,” going head to head at the Tony Awards. Make sure to check out the series finale on Sunday, May 26 at 9/8c.

Katharine McPhee keeps it sheer during the 2013 Winter TCA Press Tour for her hit show Smash at Langham Hotel on Sunday (January 6) in Pasadena, Calif.

The 28-year-old actress was joined on the red carpet by her co-stars Megan Hilty, Anjelica Huston, Christian Borle, Jack Davenport, Jeremy Jordan., Krysta Rodriguez, and Sean Hayes.

The series starring Katharine McPhee, Debra Messing, Anjelica Huston, Jack Davenport, Christian Borle, Megan Hilty, Krysta Rodriguez, and will feature new roles from Jennifer Hudson, Jesse L. Martin, Jeremy Jordan, and Sean Hayes.

Smash returns to NBC on Tuesday (February 5) at 9-10 p.m. ET and will continue in its regular time slot on Tuesday (February 12) at 10-11 p.m. ET.

'Smash' Cast Remembers Marilyn Monroe 50 Years After Death

Smash cast members Megan Hilty, Debra Messing, and Christian Borle take a break on the set of their show to remember Marilyn Monroe fifty years after her death on Sunday (August 5) in New York City.

The musical within the show, Bombshell, revolves around the life and death of the iconic movie star, who passed away on August 5, 1962 after a Barbiturate overdose.

Smash will be returning to NBC for its second season next year along with special guest stars Jennifer Hudson and Jeremy Jordan!
