Sarah Michelle Gellar Will Star in NBC's 'Cruel Intentions' Reboot!

Sarah Michelle Gellar has officially joined the upcoming remake of Cruel Intentions!

The 38-year-old actress, who starred in the original 1999 film, confirmed the exciting news on Instagram.

“#throwbackthursday (a bit early in Los Angeles) this picture was taken on the eve of production on the original #cruelintentions. Its me #rogerkumble (director) and #nealmoritz (exec producer) and the other is a picture of us now on the eve of production on the new #cruelintentions.”

SMG continued, “That’s right ‘everybody loves me, and I intend to keep it that way’ #kathrynmerteuil is back!!! I am happy to say that I will be joining them (and @nbctv) on the new #Crueltv”

'Cruel Intentions' Sequel Series Given Pilot Order by NBC!

The upcoming Cruel Intentions follow-up series has been given a pilot order by NBC, which makes it one step closer to hitting the air!

The series will follow the “beautiful and cunning Kathryn Merteuil (played by Sarah Michelle Gellar in the film) as she vies for control of Valmont International as well as the soul of Bash Casey, the son of her brother, who was the late Sebastian Valmont (Ryan Philllipe in the movie) and Annette Hargrove (Reese Witherspoon in the movie). Upon discovering his late father’s legacy in a hidden journal, Bash is introduced to a world of sex, money, power and corruption he never could have imagined.”

It is not known right now if any of the movie’s original stars, including Selma Blair, will return for the series. They do remain close friends and the ladies all attended the unauthorized musical parody of the movie at Los Angeles’ Rockwell club last May!

'Cruel Intentions' Follow-Up TV Series in the Works at NBC!

Get ready for more from the Cruel Intentions world because a follow-up television series is in the works at NBC!

The new series will be set in the present day and follow “the rags-to-riches story of 16-year-old Bash Casey, the son of the late Sebastian Valmont (played in the film by Ryan Phillippe) and Annette Hargrove (Reese Witherspoon). Upon finding his late father’s journal, Bash learns of the family legacy he didn’t know existed. In search of answers, he trades his small-town Kansas upbringing for a scholarship to the prestigious Brighton Preparatory Academy in San Francisco and soon finds himself in a world of sex, money, power, and corruption he never could have imagined,” according to Deadline.

It is not known right now if the film’s original stars, which also include Sarah Michelle Gellar and Selma Blair, will appear on the series.

The new Cruel Intentions series will be executive produced by the film’s writer-diretor Roger Kumble and producer Neal H. Moritz, as well as the team behind The Unauthorized Musical Parody of Cruel IntentionsLindsey Rosin and Jordan Ross.
