Dave Mirra Dead - BMX Star Dies of Apparent Suicide at 41

Dave Mirra, a former BMX star, has been found dead of an apparent suicide at age 41.

The legendary bike rider was found in his truck at approximately 4pm on Thursday (February 4) in Greenville, N.C. with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, according to TMZ.

Dave hosted two seasons of MTV’s Real World/Road Rules Challenge and at one time held the record for the most X Games medals.

“We mourn the loss today of a great friend and wonderful human being who touched the lives of so many around the world with his gift. He called Greenville, North Carolina home and was as humble a guy talking with kids on a street corner about bikes as he was in his element on the world stage. A young life with so much to offer was taken too soon,” the Greenville mayor Allen Thomas said in a statement.

Dave is survived by his wife Lauren and their two children. We send our thoughts and condolences to all of his loved ones during this difficult time.
