David Ayer is sending out an apology to his fans for an incident that occurred during the Suicide Squad premiere on Monday (August 1) in New York City.

While introducing the film, the 48-year-old director screamed “F-ck Marvel!” Suicide Squad is part of the DC Comics film slate, and is seen as direct competition for Marvel films.

David later took to Twitter after receiving a lot of criticism for his sentiments.

“Sorry about getting caught up in the moment and saying f*ck Marvel. Someone said it. I echoed. Not cool. Respect for my brother filmmakers,” David wrote.

The 26-year-old actress was joined by stars Will Smith, Karen Fukuhara and Jay Hernandez as well as the film’s director David Ayer.

The cast was also on-hand to help reveal a mural dedicated to the movie, which had been created by artists Amanda Valdes and Didirok.

“Miami’s little monster @suicidesquadmovie amazing artwork: @didirok @amandalvaldes,” Margot wrote on her Instagram along with a photo in front of the painting.

The Suicide Squad team looks ready for action in a new photo shared by director David Ayer on his Twitter on Monday (January 11).

The cast, which includes Margot Robbie, Will Smith, Jai Courtney, Joel Kinnaman, Karen Fukuhara and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, hold up their weapons as they get ready for battle.

David simply captioned the image, “#skwad.”

“We all need good guys and everything – yay, good guys – but at the end of the day, they’re kinda boring. They’re always going to do the right thing. When you’re dealing with the baddies, it’s easy to get ahead of the audience and invert expectations,” David told USA Today, which also debuted the new image.

Suicide Squad is set to hit theaters on August 5th.

Will Smith and Margot Robbie become tattoo artists while inking their Suicide Squad co-stars and crew on the set of their upcoming movie.

“Got my #skwad tattoo:) Will has many many talents, tattooing is not one of them. It was like watching a drunk baby fly a helicopter. #suicidesquad #willsmith #harleystattooparlour,” Joel Kinnaman captioned the Instagram photo of himself showing off the “Skwad” tattoo.

Noticeably absent was Jared Leto, who plays The Joker and was seen the day before roaming New York City in new candid photos.

The first-ever footage from Suicide Squad debuted during the panel and it ended with Jared‘s character saying, “I’m not gonna kill ya, I’m just gonna hurt ya really, really bad.”

FYI: Cara is wearing a Zuhair Murad top and skirt, Saint Laurent shoes, and Melinda Maria jewelry. Margot is wearing a Camilla and Marc top and pants.

Fans are currently going nuts over a photo retweeted by Jared Leto from director David Ayer‘s Twitter account, where it appears as if he’s about to get his signature locks cut off!

“Should we? #SuicideSquad” David, the director of the Suicide Squad film, where Jared will be playing The Joker, tweeted to his followers.

Suicide Squad, which is set to be released in 2016, will also star Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, and more. We can’t wait to see Jared debut his new short locks for the movie!

The 50-year-old actor was joined by Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman, Jon Bernthal, Michael Pena, and director David Ayer.

Fury roared into theaters in the United Stated this weekend and it is on track to debut at number one. The film opened with $8.8 million on Friday and it is expected to make around $25 million for the full weekend. After receiving an A- CinemaScore, experts believe the film will have long legs in theaters.
