American Idol Season 7 winner David Cook and his guitar player Neal Tiemann arrive in Ethiopia as guests of the United Nations Foundation to learn about the challenges adolescent girls face in many parts of the world.

While in Ethiopia, Cook will visit the United Nations’ Biruh Tesfa (Bright Future) Project to see firsthand how the UN Foundation is supporting the work of the UN to educate and empower girls. Footage of Cook’s trip to Ethiopia will be featured during Idol Gives Back on Wednesday (April 21) @ 8PM ET/PT on FOX.

“I am excited to see the UN Foundation’s work in Ethiopia firsthand,” said Cook. “In so many parts of the world, girls and young women are denied the chance to fulfill their dreams, just because they are girls. But the ‘Biruh Tesfa’ project is proof that global problems can be solved, we just have to start. I look forward to sharing the images and stories from my trip with American Idol viewers across the country.”

David Cook rocks Kansas City’s Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday (December 20) with the national anthem at the Chiefs vs. Browns game!

The American Idol winner, who turned 27 the same day, had his family and friends there to watch and met three lucky fans before the game!

David‘s loved ones surprised him in his suite – they sang him Happy Birthday and gave him a Coldstone cake in his favorite flavor: COOKie Dough!

American Idol champion David Cook takes his nieces and nephews for a flight aboard the Magic Carpets of Aladdin ride at Magic Kingdom in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., on Monday morning (August 17).

Joining the 26-year-old singer on the family vacation to Walt Disney World were Gracie (right), age 6 and Marshall, 18 months. Pictured below: Aylish (rear left), age 9; and Gage (rear right), age 8.

David Cook promotes the new Skechers shoes at the new JCPenney store at New York City’s Herald Square on Wednesday afternoon (August 5).

Hundreds of fans lined up to meet the 26-year-old American Idol champ at the new 33rd & 6th location (the first store JCP store in Manhattan).

David Cook visits Fuse’s No. 1 Countdown at Fuse Studios on Thursday (June 25) in New York City.

The 26-year-old American Idol winner just scored his 3rd Top 10 Single on Adult Radio. His introductory single, “Time of My Life,” reached No. 7, its follow-up, “Light On,” peaked at No. 4., and his latest single “Come Back to Me” moved into No. 10 this week. Cook announced plans to extend his first ever solo tour, “The Declaration Tour – 2009,” through October 2009.

Earlier this month, JustJared.com reported Cook getting a little cozy with scene queen Lana Jade.
