Joaquin Phoenix dropped by The Late Show With David Letterman on Thursday to promote his latest movie, Two Lovers.

The 34-year-old actor keeps his head down during most of the interview and doesn’t get very chatty. He even forgets his costar’s name — Gwyneth Paltrow!

In between the many awkward silences, Dave pokes fun at Joaquin‘s new look, asking, “What can you tell us about your days with the Unabomber?”

Joaquin does confirm he quit acting to pursue music. However, the audience does burst into laughter when he says he’s recording “more hip-hop music.”

Dave indirectly tells Joaquin it’s rude to chew gum during an interview. Joaquin then takes the gum out of his mouth and sticks it underneath Dave‘s desk!!! Dave ends the interview, saying, “Joaquin, I’m sorry you couldn’t be here tonight.”

David Letterman poked fun at Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin during Wendesday night’s episode of The Late Show With David Letterman. (Last week, he bashed presidential hopeful John McCain for skipping his show.)

Last night, the 61-year-old late night talk show host rattled off the “Top Ten Things Overheard at Sarah Palin‘s Debate Camp”. Of course, the audience reaction was huge. Check them out for yourself:

10 — “Let’s practice your bewildered silence”
9 — “Can you try saying ‘Yes’ instead of ‘You betcha’?”
8 –” Hey, I can see Mexico from here!”
7 — “Maybe we’ll get lucky and there won’t be any questions about Iraq, taxes, or health care”

5 — “Can I just use that lipstick-pit bull thing again?”

Jay-Z is on the verge of closing a $150 million deal with concert promoter Live Nation that includes every aspect the rapper’s future touring and recordings.

As part of the partnership, Jay-Z will also launch an entertainment venture called Roc Nation. According to the NY Times, this will finance future start-up ventures by Jay-Z including his own label, music publishing, and artist consulting and managing.

Earlier this week, U2 closed in on a 12-year deal with Live Nation. Madonna sealed a $120 million deal with Live Nation back in October.

Ellen Pompeo looks flawless as she arrives at the Ed Sullivan Theater for her taping at The Late Show with David Letterman in New York City on Monday.

The interview of the 38-year-old Grey’s Anatomy actress won’t air until this Friday, though. Also on the show will be Jay-Z and Mary J. Blige.

Following the resolution of the Hollywood writers’ strike, Grey’s returns with all new eps later this month — April 24! It was recently reported that Amy Madigan will have a recurring role as a psychiatrist at Seattle Grace Hospital on the hit ABC medica drama. Madigan recently starred in Ben Affleck‘s Gone Baby Gone.

Kate Bosworth arrives at the Ed Sullivan Theatre on Tuesday afternoon to promote her new gambling flick, 21, out Friday, at The Late Show with Davis Letterman.

Kate‘s hair looked gorgeous as always (in a sexy bedhead kinda way) and she’s got some very cool designs in her leggings! Dress by Chloe. Jacket by Twenty8Twelve (Sienna Miller‘s fashion line). Shoes by Sergio Rossi.

On the show, Kate, 25, shared about her recent vacation in New Zealand with model boyfriend James Rousseau. She even showed a video of her skydiving, which was part of the couple’s trip round the mountains. Kate was in between movies at that point, so that’s why she was allowed to do something as dangerous as skydiving!

She recently joked, “I went skydiving recently–I was really hoping that parachute was going to open!”

Here is the video of The Hills star Lauren Conrad (wearing her own collection) on The Late Show with David Letterman.

The pair talk about Lauren getting ticks as a child. She said, “Our house was in Orange County. The back was a huge canyon, and I was a really big tomboy when I was little. I’d always go hiking and I had a rock collection. And I’d come back up and… you get ticks! They’re gross.”

The 30-year-old actress helped promote her latest film The Air I Breathe, which opens in limited release this Friday, Jan. 25.

For the past month, SMG has been on vacation with her husband Freddie Prinze Jr. in Hawaii but she came back to a few problems.

“I’ve been on vacation the last month or so,” Sarah Michelle said. “I came back to no hot water or television, which are two very big problems in my house.”

“Television first, then hot water,” she joked.
