Ryan Murphy celebrates after winning the gold medal in the Men’s 100m backstroke event during the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics on Monday (August 8) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The 21-year-old swimmer beat out his teammate David Plummer, who came in third place and won the bronze medal.
Conor Dwyer, one of the star swimmers who you will remember from the 2012 games, won the bronze medal in the Men’s 200m freestyle that evening as well. He was beat out by China’s Sun Yang and South Africa’s Chad le Clos.
