MLB's David Ross on Last Night's 'DWTS': 'I Learned I Have an Inner Stripper'

Former MLB player David Ross showed Chicago Cubs fans a whole new side of him on Monday night’s Dancing with the Stars when he performed a routine inspired by Las Vegas’ Magic Mike Live with partner Lindsay Arnold and it had ladies of all ages in the audience going wild.

“I learned that I have maybe a little inner stripper that came out… an inner Magic Mike,” David told JustJared backstage after the show. “I don’t know how that looked, but I had a lot of fun and enjoyed it all week. [Lindsay] gave me a lot of confidence, her coaching really brought me outside of my shell, way outside of my shell and I wouldn’t have done it without her.”

So, had David seen the movie Magic Mike before taking on this daring, stripped-down routine? (And yes, we mean stripped-down literally.)

“I had not,” he revealed. “My wife, they had a girls trip awhile back and went and saw Magic Mike, so she had seen it, but I had never seen it, but the guys [from Magic Mike Live] in Vegas actually helped me out a lot, too, with the confidence.”

The 40-year-old also called the dance “probably one of the most memorable things I’ve ever done.”

As David was preparing to show off his Magic Mike moves on Sunday, his former teammates were playing their season opening game.

“It was a little tough yesterday watching the guys take the field and I went on TV a couple times with ESPN and just could hear the ruckus off the crowd and the roar of the crowd in the background,” David told us. “It pulled at my heartstrings, but there’s so many things I don’t miss, but I definitely miss the competition and being with boys on Opening Day. Opening Night is one of my favorite things ever. It’s just all that build up and you finally get to start that journey and so I definitely had a little bit of, ‘Aw man, I miss these guys.’”

David revealed that he spent the game rooting for his boys on television and practicing his Magic Mike moves during the commercial breaks.
