'Fantastic Beasts' Director Says The Franchise Is 'Parked' & There Were Never Plans for 5 Movies

The Fantastic Beasts movies are essentially done, at least for now.

David Yates, who directed the three Wizarding World of Harry Potter prequel movies and the last four HP movies, is speaking out about the possibility of a fourth Fantastic Beasts film.

If you recall, the last one, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, did not do well at the box office and was the lowest performing film in the entire Harry Potter franchise. Because of this, it was unknown if another film would be happening.

'Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald' Gets Six Brand-New Posters!

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is here with SIX brand-new posters!

Warner Bros. Pictures released the new artwork for the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them sequel on Wednesday (October 10).

Here’s the synopsis: “At the end of the first film, the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) was captured by MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United States of America), with the help of Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne). But, making good on his threat, Grindelwald escaped custody and has set about gathering followers, most unsuspecting of his true agenda: to raise pure-blood wizards up to rule over all non-magical beings.

In an effort to thwart Grindelwald’s plans, Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) enlists his former student Newt Scamander, who agrees to help, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided wizarding world.”

The film also stars Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Zoë Kravitz, Callum Turner, Claudia Kim, William Nadylam, Kevin Guthrie, Carmen Ejogo, and Poppy Corby-Tuech.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is directed by David Yates, from a screenplay by J.K.

'Fantastic Beasts' Sequel Won't Explore Dumbledore's Sexuality

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindewald gives a first look at a young Dumbledore, but his sexuality won’t be a part of the storyline.

Director David Yates recently spoke about Dumbledore and his relationship with Grindewald.

“Not explicitly,” he told EW about the film exploring his sexuality. “But I think all the fans are aware of that. He had a very intense relationship with Grindelwald when they were young men. They fell in love with each other’s ideas, and ideology and each other.”

Harry Potter author JK Rowling revealed the news of the wizard’s sexuality back in 2007.

“He’s a maverick and a rebel and he’s an inspiring teacher at Hogwarts,” David dished about Dumbledore, played by Jude Law. “He’s witty and has a bit of edge. He’s not this elder statesman. He’s a really kinetic guy. And opposite Johnny Depp as Grindelwald, they make an incredible pairing.”

There will be three more movies in the Fantastic Beasts series, so the exploration of Dumbledore’s sexuality isn’t out of the question just yet.

Eddie Redmayne Gushes About Favorite Part of Fatherhood

Eddie Redmayne suits up for the Canadian premiere of his upcoming film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them held at Yonge-Dundas Square on Tuesday (November 8) in Toronto, Canada.

The 34-year-old actor was joined by his co-stars Dan Fogler, Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, director David Yates, and producer David Heyman.

The next day, he and the cast flew to New York City for the Apple Store Soho presentation of Meet the Cast: Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them.

Eddie recently opened up about his favorite part about being a dad to his four-month-old daughter Iris.

“It’s in the morning,” Eddie told People. “If Iris has managed to sleep through the night and then you hear a gentle squeak and you go in [her room] and turn on the light … and the massive grin that’s like, ‘It’s a whole new day.’ That’s probably the greatest thing.”

“Hilariously, she’s learned to shout,” he went on. “She doesn’t cry much, but she’s learned to shout. It’s hilarious, she’ll just be sitting there going, ‘Behhhhh!’ Like, what is that noise? From this tiny little thing. She doesn’t sound like a sheep, but it definitely doesn’t sound like a noise that could come from someone so small.”

“The amazing this is that everything that everyone has ever told you – all of the clichés – you become the person starting to spout out the clichés, as if they are the newest thought,” Eddie added.
