'Dawson's Creek' Creator Reveals Where Joey & Pacey Would Be Today

It has been over a week since the Dawson’s Creek cast reunion photos came out, but we’re still loving them!

One of the scoops that Entertainment Weekly got for its recent cover story was series creator Kevin Williamson‘s thoughts on where Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson‘s characters Joey and Pacey would be today.

“I think Pacey and Joey got married. I think they had a family, I think there were troubles. I think they got a divorce. I think that when we meet them they’re in a very dark place,” Kevin said. “But there’s still something between them that forces them to come together and raise their children. As they seek out happiness with others, they just keep coming back to each other. And they just can’t stop that magical thing that exists between them and that bond they have. I think we would sort of have to watch them fall in love all over again as middle-aged adults.”

James Van Der Beek Reacts to That Crying Face Meme!

During the recent Dawson’s Creek reunion for the Entertainment Weekly cover, James Van Der Beek brought up that viral meme of him crying!

“I feel like everybody on this show cried more than I did and I was the one who got caught in the loop!” James said during the cast discussion.

“I love it. It’s my favorite thing about the whole show,” he added. “It’s hilarious to me that you can work for six years on a show … and it gets boiled down to three seconds. It’s a perfect way-of-the-internet.”

Joshua Jackson assured him that, “It’s not how many times you cried. It’s how you cried.”

Michelle Williams was actually not aware of the meme until the reunion!

Katherine Heigl Auditioned For Michelle Williams' Role on 'Dawson's Creek'

Katherine Heigl could have been cast in the role of Jen on Dawson’s Creek, it was just revealed in the new EW reunion cover story.

The role ended up going to Michelle Williams, of course, but creator Kevin Williamson explained what happened.

“She looked slightly older at that time. Even though she was younger, I just think she was more mature. She gave a great audition, I remember we were all sort of like, ‘Wow, she’s good.’”

He then explained that when Michelle “walked in and she came across as an angel,” she had the role.

James Van Der Beek Admits He Never Watched the 'Dawson's Creek' Finale

Don’t bother asking James Van Der Beek about the series finale of his show Dawson’s Creek because not only does he not remember what happened, he never even watched the episode!

“I’ve never seen the last episode,” the 40-year-old actor said on the Allegedly podcast.

James, who is currently promoting his new Viceland series What Would Diplo Do?, said that he “thinks” he knows how it ended.

James was asked about his opinion on Katie Holmes‘ character Joey ending up with Joshua Jackson‘s character Pacey, instead of Dawson.

“It’s interesting,” he said. “It’s a weird thing because people, obviously when you make any kind of entertainment, they own a relationship to it. It’s amazing and the fact that it resonates with anybody today or that they’d even care about my thoughts on it. I feel like my thoughts on it are kind of irrelevant.”

“I’m not as invested in that because it was something that I did, it was not something that I wrote. Honestly, I feel like a passenger in the whole thing,” James added. “Honestly, it’s a weird thing to relate to because it’s not so immediate for me.”
