Debra has taken to Twitter to apologize for an insensitive tweet she sent out during the UCLA shooting that day. She posted a photo of herself watching the “horrendous” news, but she was wearing a t-shirt with the slogan “Under the Gun.”
“I was so shocked and struck by the horrible IRONY that yet another shooting was occurring as I was participating in this effort,” Debra wrote in a message after deleting the post. “In an effort to highlight the irony, I posted a picture referencing the breaking news.”
“I am heartbroken and embarrassed that many people misconstrued my actions and that I caused offense,” Debra added. “The horrendous irony of the timing, I was hoping, would shine an even brighter light on the crisis and need for all of us to do something together to make the US safer. I am so truly sorry.”

Susan Sarandon Explains The Debra Messing Twitter Feud
The 47-year-old Mysteries of Laura star took issue with the 69-year-old actress’ interview with MSNBC earlier this week in which she seemingly implied that a Donald Trump presidency might be preferable to a Hillary Clinton one.
“Susan Sarandon muses tht Trump prezcy wud b better 4 the country thn Hillary. Wonder if she’d say that if she were poor, gay,Muslim or immgrnt,” Debra tweeted.
Susanwrote, “Of course I would never support Trump for any reason. If you watch the interview you’ll see that’s not what I said.”
“Then why didn’t you say that? Please make that clear in the future. For women’s sake if for no one else,” Debra responded.
Jamie Lee Curtis also weighed in, “I respect but disagree with @SusanSarandon. A possible support of Trump over @HillaryClinton is dangerous 2 women, minorities & immigrants.”
Susan and Debra then had a long exchange over what she actually said. Watch Susan‘s original interview below and you be the judge.
