Debra Messing Calls Out Ivanka Trump During Passionate GLAAD Awards Speech (Video)

Debra Messing has some words for Ivanka Trump, who she called out during her passionate acceptance speech at the 2017 GLAAD Media Awards in New York City over the weekend.

The Will & Grace actress was honored with the Excellence in Media Award and gave a nine-minute speech in which she opened up about her thoughts on politics, social issues, and more.

“It’s not enough to simply say that women’s issues are important to you,” Ivanka said while referring to the First Daughter. “It’s time to do something. Ivanka, you can change the lives of millions of women and children just by telling your dad stories about real people who are suffering. Don’t let him separate immigrant mothers from their American-born children. Don’t let him take health care away from women who need it. Don’t allow him to make trans kids like Gavin [Grimm] fight in court for their basic human dignity.”

Debra Messing Reveals Why 'Will & Grace' Reboot Is Happening Now

Debra Messing is on the cover of Haute Living New York‘s new issue.

Here’s what the 48-year-old actress had to share with the mag:

On the Will & Grace reboot: “We need the show now more than ever…It was unique in how it cast light on issues in our culture that needed mending or strengthening. Everything happening culturally now will be fodder for the comedy.”

On returning to the Will & Grace set: “It was incredible and very emotional to walk on that set—every prop was still there. The original crew—the costumer, hair, and makeup—came back too.”

On actors she’d love to work with: “Meryl Streep. I mean come on, right? Viola Davis. She and I know each other from when we first got out of school—I was at NYU; she was at Juilliard. Viola is a beast of a talent.”

Susan Sarandon Says Debra Messing is 'Trumpian' & 'Not Very Well Informed'

Susan Sarandon is opening up about her Twitter feud with Debra Messing, which stemmed from their differing views on some political issues.

During her interview on Watch What Happens Live, Susan compared Debra to President Trump because she thinks the actress talks about issues she hasn’t thought through.

“She’s not very well informed and so sometimes she gets in areas that she really hasn’t thought through, maybe? She’s Trumpian a little bit like that,” Susan said. “So, I don’t have anything against her personally. I just sometimes I have to say, ‘But you don’t have the information.’”

Debra criticized Susan over a year ago for suggesting that a Trump presidency would be better for the country than a Hillary Clinton presidency.

Sarandon, who was joined for the interview by her 3 Generations co-star Naomi Watts, was a strong supporter of Bernie Sanders throughout the presidential election.
