Nicole Kidman brought her critically-acclaimed film Lion home to her native Australia with the best company ever!
The 49-year-old actress was joined by her country star husband Keith Urban, who is also Australian, on the red carpet at the premiere of Lion held at the State Theatre on Monday (December 19) in Sydney, Australia.
Nicole Kidman couldn’t help being maternal towards Dev Patel while shooting their critically-acclaimed film Lion!
“I was maternal to him. I was pretty much in character playing the role in the sense that I had my own children there, I was working with little Sunny who plays young Saroo, and then big Dev,” the 49-year-old actress, who plays Dev‘s adoptive mother Sue in the flick, recently expressed.
“I’ve gotten to know Dev, the man, separate from Saroo in terms of just recently promoting the film. I really just related to him as a mother working on the film, I would stroke his hair, touch his face and hold his hand. He kind of just gave permission for that, which was terrific,” Nicole added. “That’s how I primarily related to him during the shoot. I also think now you’ll see Dev as a leading man. Not as an Indian man, not as anything other than a leading man and I look forward to watching his journey into all of that now. I think he’s displayed that in this.”

That same day, Nicole was spotted all bundled up while making her way inside the BBC Radio 2 studios to promote Lion.

Nicole Kidman doesn’t want to know the results of a Google search about herself!
In a new interview with Variety, the 49-year-old actress discussed her mixed feelings about technology.
Nicole revealed that she doesn’t ever search her name but she does use Google Earth, much like the characters in her upcoming film Lion.
“I love where technology is taking us, but you need a balance. I love nature, and I love the slow life as well. The instant gratification of technology can mean you’re missing out on life,” she explained.

“I was living out of suitcases and he was like, ‘I can give you a home babe’. And I was like, ‘you give me a home, and I will move to Nashville,’” the 49-year-old actress said in an interview with Vogue Australia.
“Keith and I always say that if we have each other, we’ve got home,” Nicole added (via The Daily Telegraph). “Obviously my humour and my essence is Australian, that just will never go. Having lived in Nashville, I have a strong sense of the (American) south in me — actually and our children are being raised that way where they have elements of American and then they have elements of Australian and then they sort of … international.”
Pictured inside: Nicole and her Lion co-stars Rooney Mara, Dev Patel, and Sunny Pawar, director Garth Davis, and writer Luke Davies at a screening of the film on Friday night (December 9) at the Harmony Gold Theatre in Los Angeles.
Here’s what the cast had to share with the mag:
Harvey Weinstein on Rooney’s dislike of press tours: “You work with Rooney on a movie, and she’ll sweep the set. She’ll do anything. But if I ask her to do ‘Jimmy Fallon,’ she’ll hold my family hostage.”
Dev, on life after Slumdog Millionaire: “It’s a blessing and a curse, that film, for me. It put me on the map and did great things, but you’re fighting against it. To lots of people, I’m the dude from ‘Slumdog.’ You have to go out there and earn your stripes and prove more than that.”
Nicole, on the movie’s adoption storyline: “It’s about saying, ‘You and I were meant for each other, however we came together — whether it’s through birth, whether it’s through adoption — I’m your mother.
