America Ferrera speaks onstage at the Half the Sky: A Special Presentation of Independant Lens panel during day 2 of the PBS portion of the 2012 Summer TCA Tour held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Sunday (July 22) in Los Angeles.

The 28-year-old actress was joined by Diane Lane and Meg Ryan, who travel the world in the documentary to examine how women and girls are treated in other countries.

“For me, I spent most of my time with some of the younger girls… and not a lot of them had actually seen anything I’d been in because they don’t really have exposure to that. Their mothers certainly had no idea who I was,” America said (via Access Hollywood).

Josh Brolin and wife Diane Lane share a sweet moment on the red carpet at the 2012 Screen Actors Guild Awards held at the Shrine Auditorium on Sunday (January 29) in Los Angeles.

The 43-year-old actor came out to support Diane, 47, who’s nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a TV Movie or Miniseries for her work in Cinema Verite.

She’s up against Downton Abbey‘s Maggie Smith, Emily Watson (Appropriate Adult), Betty White (Hallmark Hall of Fame: The Lost Valentine), and Kate Winslet (Mildred Pierce).

FYI: Diane is wearing a David Meister gown and carrying a VBH clutch. Josh suited up in Ermenegildo Zegna.

About her relationship with husband Josh Brolin: “At my own peril I will quote Mae West, who said ‘Getting married is like trading in the adoration of many for the sarcasm of one.’ I embrace that. Bring it on. Because that’s what intimacy is: It’s a willingness to be vulnerable, a willingness to bite my tongue and a willingness to set an example of what I believe in. And it’s hard. Look at all of the sages throughout history. They lived alone.“

On why she thinks marriage is worth it: “I recently said to Josh, ‘Being in a relationship makes it impossible to avoid yourself.’ It may not always make me comfortable but it sure has made me a better person. And I’ll take that any day.”

On aging on camera and plastic surgery: “Some days I want to get a boob job, some days I want to get the eye lift. Then other days I’m like ‘Absolutely not! Have some integrity! Be those footprints in the sand that lead other forward in a more dignified manner.’ But it’s all about what makes you happy. It’s a hyper-personal domain.”

Thomas Dekker shows off a long new do while shooting scenes with Diane Lane for their new HBO flick, Cinema Verite, at Central Park’s Bow Bridge on Tuesday afternoon (August 24) in New York City.

Cinema Verite is a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the groundbreaking 1970s documentary series An American Family, which is considered to be television’s first reality show.

Tim Robbins and Diane play parents Bill and Pat Loud while Thomas portrays their son Lance, who comes out as a gay man on the show. James Gandolfini will portray visionary producer Craig Gilbert.

Let’s talk about the presidential election. It’s interesting, the way that young people seem captivated in a way they haven’t been in a while. Thank God! It’s very exciting. I’m really happy that there’s so much heat around this election, because there needs to be. Right now, we need a change. I campaigned for Kerry [four years ago], and I supported Hillary.

What was it about her? Did you feel drawn to her because she’s a woman? Well, I definitely like that idea. I mean, there’s nothing more empowering than to know that I was alive to see [the possibility of] the first woman president. I think our country needs that femininity, you know? Still, I hope Obama wins.

And what’s next for you? You seem to be between acting gigs right now. Does the world feel wide open? Definitely. I’d love to do a musical. I’d love to do comedies…. I know what I want to do, but it’s just not as detailed as I’d probably like it to be.
