Dick Gregory Dead - Stand-Up Comic & Civil Rights Activist Passes Away at 84

Dick Gregory has sadly passed away on Saturday (August 19) his family confirms on Instagram. He was 84-years-old.

The stand-up comic rose to fame in the 1960s for attacking racism through satirical comedy and was strong activist for civil rights.

“It is with enormous sadness that the Gregory family confirms that their father, comedic legend and civil rights activist Mr. Dick Gregory departed this earth tonight in Washington, DC. The family appreciates the outpouring of support and love and respectfully asks for their privacy as they grieve during this very difficult time. More details will be released over the next few days – Christian Gregory,” Dick‘s family wrote on Instagram.
