Dr. Dre Detained By Police After Incident at Home in Malibu

Dr. Dre was briefly handcuffed and detained by police after an incident was reported at his home on Monday afternoon (July 25) in Malibu, Calif.

The police were sent to the 51-year-old musician’s home after a man reported that he had stopped in front of the Pacific Coast Highway property and someone there had brandished a firearm while demanding he leave.

Dr. Dre was cooperative as police searched, handcuffed, and briefly detained him but no weapon was found at the scene.

According to Dr. Dre, the other man parked directly in front of his home, blocking his driveway, and was asked to leave. When the man returned and parked near the same location, Dr. Dre began filming the person but denies threatening him.

No arrests were made and Dre was not taken into custody but was given a citation to appear in court.

Kendrick Lamar Inducts NWA Into Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

Kendrick Lamar speaks on stage while inducting the legendary rap group N.W.A. into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Friday (April 8) at Barclays Center in New York City.

The group – made up of Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, MC Ren, and DJ Yella – reunited to accept the major honor. Kathie Wright, the mother of the late Easy-E, was also there to accept his trophy on his behalf.

During their speech, N.W.A. blasted Gene Simmons for recently saying that “rap will die.”

“I want to say to Mr. Gene Simmons that hip-hop is here forever — get used to it,” MC Ren started off the speech (via LoudWire).

“The question is, ‘Are we rock ‘n’ roll?’ and I say ‘You g–damn right we rock ‘n’ roll!’ Rock ‘n’ roll is not an instrument — rock ‘n’ roll is not even a style of music. Rock ‘n’ roll is a spirit! A spirit that’s been going since the blues, jazz, bebop, soul, R&B, rock ‘n’ roll, heavy metal, punk rock, and, yes, hip-hop!” Ice Cube continued. “And what connects us all is that spirit — that’s what connects us all is that spirit. Rock ‘n’ roll is not conforming to the people who came before you, but creating your own path in music and life. That is rock ‘n’ roll and that is us. Rock ‘n’ roll is not conforming, rock ‘n’ roll is outside the box and rock ‘n’ roll is N.W.A.”

While promoting Miles Ahead, Ewan revealed that production is officially underway for Trainspotting 2 to start filming in May.

“The script only arrived very recently, which was really, really, really good. I think, if that had not happened, none of us would be into it,” Ewan told Collider. “I think we’re all sort of somewhat protective of what Trainspotting means to people, and what it means to us. None of us want to make a poor sequel to it. So had we not been presented with the most extraordinary script, which we were, I think we wouldn’t be making the sequel. But because we were, we are.”

Dr. Dre Will Star in Apple's First Scripted Television Series

Dr. Dre is set to star in and executive produce a brand new scripted television series titled Vital Signs exclusively for Apple.

This is the media and electronics company’s first foray into the original and scripted television content world, though it’s not currently known if the six-episode series will be released on Apple Music, Apple TV, the iTunes store, or another Apple platform.

Dre‘s show is “billed as semi-autobiographical, with each episode focusing on a different emotion and how Dre’s character deals with it,” according to THR.

The show will have a run-time of 30 minutes, but it is a dark drama and not a comedy. Sam Rockwell and Murder in the First‘s Mo McCrae are also set to star in the series.

Dr. Dre Apologizes to the Women He Allegedly Assaulted

Dr. Dre has issued a statement to apologize to the women in his past who he has allegedly assaulted.

Following the massive success of his biopic Straight Outta Compton, journalist Dee Barnes spoke out about how his attacks on women were left out of the movie. Now, the rapper and billionaire mogul has released a statement to The New York Times.

“Twenty-five years ago I was a young man drinking too much and in over my head with no real structure in my life,” Dre said. “However, none of this is an excuse for what I did. I’ve been married for 19 years and every day I’m working to be a better man for my family, seeking guidance along the way. I’m doing everything I can so I never resemble that man again.”

“I apologize to the women I’ve hurt. I deeply regret what I did and know that it has forever impacted all of our lives,” Dre concluded.
