Dr. Luke Responds to Lady Gaga's Deposition in Kesha Legal Battle

Dr. Luke is responding to Lady Gaga‘s deposition in his ongoing legal battle with Kesha, which was just unsealed this week.

The 45-year-old producer’s lawyer issued a statement to The Blast on Wednesday (January 30).

“Being passionate about a topic that concerns us all is admirable. However, Lady Gaga has no knowledge of what happened on the night at issue because she was not there. Kesha got kicked out of a party after drinking too much and vomiting. As an act of kindness, Dr. Luke offered to allow her to sleep in his hotel suite, a few blocks away. Kesha slept on the bed in the hotel suite, while Dr. Luke separately slept on the couch. Dr. Luke testified under oath that he did not have any contact with Kesha. Kesha herself admitted under oath that she has absolutely no memory of Dr. Luke even being in the hotel room,” the statement reads.

Kesha has no memory of Dr. Luke engaging in inappropriate contact with her because it did not happen.”

“She told me he assaulted her…when men assault women, they don’t invite people over to watch. And when this happens in this industry, it is kept extremely secret, and it is compounded by contracts and manipulative power scenarios that actually include this very situation that we are all in right now,” Gaga said in her deposition.

Lady Gaga's Deposition In Support of Kesha is The Most Powerful Thing You'll Read in a Long Time

Lady Gaga was deposed as part of Kesha‘s legal battle with Dr. Luke and the things that she said in support of the singer are so incredibly powerful. The deposition happened in September 2017, but the court documents were just unsealed.

While we’re not going to go into specifics of what Gaga discussed in regards to her meetings with Kesha, there was a powerful moment after Luke‘s lawyer asked her about “personal knowledge or information as to any interaction between him and Ms. Sebert, physical or otherwise.” What Gaga said applies to all sexual assault victims and shows the compassion she has for all of the survivors out there.

“Yes, I do have knowledge,” Gaga replied (via The Blast). “She told me he assaulted her.”

After the lawyer asked if she knew anything other than what Kesha told her, Gaga said, “Well, you know – when men assault women, they don’t invite people over to watch. And when this happens in this industry, it is kept extremely secret, and it is compounded by contracts and manipulative power scenarios that actually include this very situation that we are all in right now.”

Luke‘s lawyer then said, “But, again, there are people that are falsely accused of rape, aren’t there? You think there has never been a false accusation of rape?”

Lady Gaga Reaches Out to Katy Perry After Calling Her 'Mean' in Text Messages to Kesha Amid Dr. Luke Legal Battle

Lady Gaga and Katy Perry are reaching out to each other.

After text messages from early 2016 that were sent between Kesha and Gaga regarding Katy‘s refusal to speak out regarding Kesha‘s accusations made against Dr. Luke were released via court documents on Friday (November 30), the “Born This Way” singer is now addressing those messages.

“@katyperry & I have grown up in the industry together. We’ve gone through both celebrations & differences w/ each other. These are old texts. We’ve matured, gotten over the past, love each other & share deep respect. Katy is my friend and is truly a kind soul. End of story,” wrote Gaga.

“Love you too friend. Onward and upward,” responded Katy.

In the newly surfaced text messages, Kesha discussed Katy with Gaga: “was crying a lot today and needed my mom. I’m really upset with Katy Perry…she could bring the whole thing to a head but she won’t,” she wrote.

“She is probably really afraid to lose everything. U are really strong standing up to him, she’s not as strong as u yet,” Gaga replied.

“your [sic] right. I need to find sympathy and empathy for her. she’s so mean. it’s hard,” wrote Kesha.

“Do u want me to see if I can talk to her. I know she’s mean. … She makes me angry about s–t [but] I just try to have empathy for her,” replied Gaga.

Dr. Luke has maintained his innocence and has decried Kesha‘s “repeated efforts to manufacture facts” in a recent statement on Thursday (November 29).

Katy Perry Says She Was Not Raped by Dr. Luke

Katy Perry‘s deposition for the lawsuit between Dr. Luke and Kesha has been released.

In the deposition, the singer says she was never raped by Dr. Luke, that he never gave her a roofie, that she never had a sexual or romantic relationship with the producer, and that she never told anyone that she was raped by him, even as a joke, according to Billboard.

Katy also said she was aware that Kesha claimed that she was raped by Luke.

Dr. Luke‘s legal team released a statement after the deposition was made public.

“The false narrative Kesha created about being raped became widely accepted, damaging Dr. Luke‘s reputation irreparably. Compounding this malicious act, in 2016, Kesha told Lady Gaga that Dr. Luke raped Katy Perry, which is outrageous and untrue,” the legal team said. “Katy Perry testified under oath in this case that Dr. Luke never raped her. Regardless, Kesha refused to apologize. Instead, she issued a press release which again irresponsibly suggested that Katy Perry was actually raped by Dr. Luke. It seems that Kesha wanted to perpetuate the falsehood that Dr. Luke raped Katy Perry.”

Dr. Luke's Legal Team Shares New Statement About Katy Perry Rape Accusations

Dr. Luke‘s legal team is speaking out again after he was accused of raping Katy Perry in text messages revealed in New York court documents.

Earlier in the week, the team denied the claims that Dr. Luke raped Katy, which was revealed during a text conversation between Kesha and Lady Gaga.

The new statement comes immediately following a note from Kesha‘s team stating that the information about Dr. Luke‘s sexual misconduct came from the “CEO of a major record label,” which Kesha and Gaga were discussing privately and was not intended to be made public in court.

Kesha and her legal team are fully aware that Ms. Perry has unequivocally confirmed that she was not raped by Dr. Luke. Kesha and her attorneys should be ashamed of themselves for not publicly acknowledging this and apologizing,” Dr. Luke‘s legal told Just Jared.

They added, “Instead, they continue to publicize this and other falsehoods. In fact, Kesha‘ s false accusation involving Ms. Perry came to public light only because Kesha‘s attorneys filed the accusation publicly.”

Dr. Luke's Team Issues Statement Following News of Kesha Accusing Dr. Luke of Raping Katy Perry in Text to Lady Gaga

Dr. Luke is speaking out after Kesha reportedly accused the producer of raping Katy Perry in a text she sent to Lady Gaga, which was revealed in New York court documents.

The statement, sent to Just Jared from Dr. Luke‘s legal team on Wednesday (June 13), addresses this allegation.

Katy Perry herself confirmed that Dr. Luke did not rape her. Kesha‘s accusation to the contrary-just like her other outrageous lies about Dr. Luke – is baseless and irresponsible, and it is disrespectful to both Katy Perry and Dr. Luke. In his defamation lawsuit against Kesha, Dr. Luke seeks damages for the harm caused by these malicious falsehoods.”
