Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson Buys XFL for $15 Million with Investment Group

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is part of a group that just purchased the XLF, the bankrupt football league based in the USA.

The 48-year-old actor teamed up with RedBird Capital to buy the defunct league just hours before it was supposed to be sold at auction, Sportico reports. The sale went down for $15 million and was split evenly. Dwayne‘s business partner and ex wife Dany Garcia was also involved and will be a shareholder.

The XFL filed for bankruptcy back in April 2020 amid the Coronavirus pandemic. Stay tuned as we see the next steps for the league!

Dwayne Johnson Reveals He Almost Starred In This Remake Of A Classic Movie

Dwayne Johnson could’ve actually starred as Willy Wonka!

The 48-year-old actor revealed a fun story on his Instagram about the iconic role for the remake of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory that he was considered for by director Tim Burton.

After sharing a little clip of the movie on his Instagram and speaking about his youngest daughters and how they also love the film, Dwayne shared the story.

“Some cool history – back in the early 2000’s, iconic director, Tim Burton had considered me to play Willy Wonka is his remake, ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’,” he wrote. “I remember thinking ‘HOLY S**T, IM IN.’”

He continued, “But that was many years ago when I was just starting out in Hollywood with no foundation of global box office strength or any real acting experience to even pull it off. The role, of course went to Johnny Depp, who at that time was the biggest star in the world.”

Dwayne added afterwards that he’ll “always raise a glass to the dreams that don’t come true, because sometimes they’re the best thing that never happened.”

'Jumanji: The Next Level' Surpasses $800 Million Worldwide at The Box Office & This 'Vampire Diaries' Star Wants A Role In The Next One

Jumanji: The Next Level has officially crossed the $800 million dollar mark at the box office worldwide, Deadline reports.

The movie – which stars Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan – focused back on the core four, who go back into the game to rescue one of their own.

“This was a nice surprising call to get this morning,” Dwayne shared on his Instagram tonight (July 8). “JUMANJI’s still going strong. First of all, THANK YOU. Secondly, I’m always grateful to see our JUMANJI having that unique, fun magic and mana for families around the 🌍 to enjoy.”

He added, “Our entire team will work even harder to make the next JUMANJI the best one yet.”

With Dwayne dropping hints at a third movie, one former Vampire Diaries star put his name out there to star in it – Ian Somerhalder!

“Congrats man!” Ian shared on Dwayne’s post, before asking, “Umm, can I be in the next one?!”

Dwayne Johnson Slams Donald Trump Amid Racial Injustice Protests: 'Where Is Our Leader?'

Dwayne Johnson is showing his support for the Black Lives Matter and calling out President Trump for his actions during the nationwide protest.

The 48-year-old actor took to Twitter to share a passionate video to say that the country needs better leadership during this time of civil unrest.

“Where are you? Where is our leader?” Dwayne asks. “Where is our leader at this time when our country is down on its knees, begging, pleading, hurt, angry, frustrated, in pain with its arms out, just wanting to be heard?”

Though he never specifically called Trump by name, it was clear Dwayne was speaking about the president.

“Where is our compassionate leader who’s going to step up to our country who’s down on its knees, and extend a hand and say, ‘You stand up, stand up with me because I got you,” Dwayne continued. “I hear you, I’m listening to you. And you have my word that I’m going to do everything in my power, until my dying day, my last breath, to do everything I can to create the change that is needed, to normalize equality because Black lives matter.’ Where are you?”

“We must become the leaders we are looking for. I’ll ask it one more time: Where are you? Where is that compassionate leader who steps up and takes accountability for his country and all the people in our country?” Dwayne shared. “Where are you? I’ll tell you what, we’re here. We’re all here. The process to change has already begun. You can feel it across our country. Change is happening. It’s going to take time. We’re going to get beat up. We’re going to take our lumps. There’s going to be blood, but the process of change has already begun.”

Dwayne Johnson is one proud dad!

During a virtual appearance on The Tonight Showing Starring Jimmy Fallon, the 48-year-old actor gushed about his 18-year-old daughter Simone signing with the WWE.

“She signed her contract with the WWE and you know it blows my mind,” Dwayne said. “First of all, what an honor that my daughter wants to follow in my footsteps but more importantly, follow in my footsteps sounds cliché, but she actually wants to create and blaze her own path, which is so important.”

Dwayne shares Simone with ex-wife Dany Garcia. Simone officially signed with the WWE back in February. Dwayne revealed that Simone is “the youngest signee in the history of the company.”

“She’s 18 now, at 16 she was working her ass off quietly under the radar, in the ring getting thrown around, you know all the bumps and bruises that go with pro wrestling,” Dwayne said. “But she hung in there, and I’m very very proud of her.”

Dwayne wrestled for the WWE for eight years before transitioning into acting.

Dwayne Johnson's Friend Hiram Garcia To Publish Book of Photographs Of The Star

There’s a brand new book coming all about Dwayne Johnson that will give fans an inside look to his private life.

The upcoming book is filled with photographs from the Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle actor’s life taken by former brother-in-law, producing partner, and longtime pal, Hiram Garcia.

“I wanted to create something for DJ that would serve as a trip down memory lane. Then, upon looking at everything holistically, I realized there was a story here that other people might enjoy too,” Hiram shared with People. “I’m honored to give a glimpse – from my perspective – into the life of a brother, friend and colleague who is admired and beloved by so many around the world.”

“The Rock: Through the Lens: His Life, His Movies, His World” is set to be released on September 8.

Dwayne Johnson & Emily Blunt Will Reunite For 'Ball & Chain' Movie

Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt are set to star in a brand new movie together, called Ball and Chain.

THR reports that the flick is an adaption of the 1990s comic of the same name.

The film project is being promoted as a Mr. and Mrs. Smith superhero story, and will focus on a couple struggling in their marriage are equipped with superpowers.

However, their powers only work when they’re together.

The movie will be written by Emily V. Gordon.

Emily and Dwayne also star in Disney’s Jungle Cruise together, which was moved to July 2021, due to coronavirus.
