Game Change centers around the 2008 elections, following the Arizona senator’s presidential bid and decision to select Sarah, then governor of Alaska, as his running mate.
“[I]n terms of the research I did on the way campaigns are conducted, so much is about how do you get on the air, how do you get the most media attention, how do you make the most noise,” Julianne told ABC News in October. “When in fact, what we’re all looking for is leadership, we don’t want noise. We want people who are going to take care of us.”
The 60-year-old actor will play Sen. John McCain in the movie, which follows his 2008 presidential campaign, THR reports. He will star opposite Julianne Moore, who was cast as Sarah Palin earlier this month.
The movie will be an adaptation of the best-selling book Game Change, an insider account of the historic 2008 election, written by Mark Halperin and John Heilemann. The film will be directed by Jay Roach, who won an Emmy for his 2008 HBO film Recount, a film about the 2000 Presidential election.
