Eddie Murphy Breaks Out Bill Cosby Impression for First Stand-Up Act in 28 Years

Eddie Murphy walks the red carpet with his longtime love Paige Butcher at the 2015 Mark Twain Prize for Humor on Sunday (October 18) at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.

While accepting the prize, the 54-year-old comedian broke out his Bill Cosby impression during his first stand-up act in 28 years.

Bill has one of these,” Eddie said. “Did you all make Bill give his back? I know there was a big outcry from people, they were trying to get Bill to give his trophies back. You know you f—ed up when they want you to give you trophies back.”

“He should do one show where he just come out and talk crazy now,” Eddie added. Then, in his Bill voice he said, “I would like to talk to some of the people who feel that I should give back my motherf—ing trophies.”

Eddie Murphy & Paige Butcher Make It a Date Night at Oscars 2015

Eddie Murphy shows off his smile on the red carpet at the 2015 Academy Awards held at the Dolby Theatre on Sunday (February 22) in Hollywood.

The 53-year-old actor brought along his longtime love Paige Butcher as his date for the big show.

Eddie was in attendance at the big show to participate as one of the many presenters for the night.

During rehearsals for the show, Eddie joked that he wanted to come out to his 1985 song “Party All the Time,” according to USA Today.

Bill Cosby Responds to Eddie Murphy's Refusal to Play Him at 'SNL 40': 'I Applaud His Actions'

Bill Cosby has issued a statement now that news broke that Eddie Murphy refused to play him in a sketch during SNL 40 this past weekend.

“I am very appreciative of Eddie and I applaud his actions,” the 77-year-old comedian, who has multiple sexual abuse allegations against him, said in a statement to NBC.

In case you missed it, read the series of tweets from former SNL cast member Norm MacDonald, who explained the entire situation surrounding Eddie‘s refusal to portray Cosby.

Instead of playing any characters, Eddie simply spoke on stage for a few moments at the 40th anniversary celebration.

This past weekend, Eddie Murphy‘s appearance on SNL 40 had many viewers upset that he did not bring back a classic character or tell jokes – and the reason is because the writers wanted him to portray Bill Cosby.

Former SNL cast member Norm MacDonald took to his Twitter to explain everything that went on behind the scenes at SNL 40.

“Among many other things, this show was to be the return of Eddie Murphy.” Norm wrote. “He knew the laughs would bring the house down. Eddie Murphy knows what will work on SNL better than any one. Eddie decides the laughs are not worth it. He will not kick a man when he is down.”

Chris Rock Honors Eddie Murphy at 'SNL 40' - Watch Now!

Chris Rock takes the stage at the Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary Celebration to honor Eddie Murphy at Rockefeller Plaza on Sunday (February 15) in New York City.

Chris talked about the then 19-year-old comedian and how he looked up to him – Eddie played many iconic characters on the late night variety show including Gumby, James Brown and his children’s show spoof Mr. Robinson’s Neighborhood.

A whole new slew of stars have been announced as presenters for the upcoming 2015 Academy Awards!
