Mark Jansen and Elena Davies, who met as contestants on Big Brother 19 in the summer of 2017, have split after a year and a half of dating.
The couple moved in together in Texas after competing together on the CBS reality competition series.
Mark opened up about their split in an episode of his new YouTube series.
“I didn’t move to Texas to hang out or continue a friendship,” he said. “I came down because I was in love with Elena. I wanted to start a family, start a life with her.”
Mark said he was hurt whenever Elena spoke about their relationship publicly and said some negative things.
“I was happy when she was happy. It was really that simple for me. I was happy when she was happy,” he said “With that mindset and perspective, hearing constantly that it’s not a fairy tale and I’m far from Prince Charming, it’s just a gut shot. Clearly nothing’s working.”
Mark says that he and Elena broke up several times throughout their relationship.
