Katy Perry Defends Ellen DeGeneres, Praises the Talk Show Host's Fight for Equality

Katy Perry is speaking out to praise her friend Ellen DeGeneres and defend the talk show host against accusations that she’s not a kind person.

The 35-year-old singer, who is pregnant with her first child, noted that she can’t speak for other people, but that she’s only had positive experiences when she’s around Ellen.

Current and former employees of The Ellen DeGeneres Show have alleged that the show has a toxic work environment and allegations of sexual misconduct were made against senior producers on the show. It has also been said that Ellen herself doesn’t practice the kindness that she preaches to viewers.

“I know I can’t speak for anyone else’s experience besides my own but I want to acknowledge that I have only ever had positive takeaways from my time with Ellen & on the @theellenshow,” Katy wrote on Twitter. “I think we all have witnessed the light & continual fight for equality that she has brought to the world through her platform for decades. Sending you love & a hug, friend @TheEllenShow ♥️.”

Things got pretty awkward during Katy‘s 2017 interview on The Ellen Show after Ellen totally forgot an important detail about the singer’s life.

Ellen addressed the allegations in a letter that she wrote to the staff of her show and producers just held a meeting with staff to address if the show will continue.

Samantha Ronson Defends Ellen DeGeneres, Says She's 'Always' Been Kind to Her

Samantha Ronson is speaking out with her thoughts on the allegations being made about Ellen DeGeneres and she has revealed what her own experience has been like.

The 42-year-old British musician acknowledged that she has an “unpopular opinion” on the subject.

“Unpopular opinion: I’ve worked for @TheEllenShow as a dj, for her parties, for years and she has ALWAYS been respectful and kind to me,” Samantha tweeted on Monday afternoon (August 3).

A fan responded and said that most reports claim she is nice to celebrity guests, but that doesn’t mean the stories aren’t true.

Samantha replied, “I knew this was coming, but you’d be surprised by how many people are super rude when you become someone they are writing a cheque to. It’s super disappointing.”

Another fan said, “You’re also a celebrity guest. It’s the people who work for her that she’s reportedly been awful to.”

Samantha responded to that tweet and said, “I wasn’t a celebrity guest. I was an employee. Very different. Trust me.”

Ellen DeGeneres' Producers Tell Staff That She's Not Giving Up, Show Will Go On

The producers of The Ellen DeGeneres Show held a meeting with staff on Monday (August 3) and they assured employees that Ellen DeGeneres is “not giving up” on the show.

The producers – including Andy Lassner and Mary Connelly – addressed the recent reports in the media with allegations about the toxic work environment at the show. They also discussed whether Ellen is actually going to quit, as some reports have suggested.

“They said a lot of [the claims are] true and a lot of it is not true,” a source told Us Weekly. “They said we are handling everything [and] things will be very different now. … A show that brings so much happiness and fun, it should be a happy show to work on.”

The producers told the staff that the show will indeed continue.

“The producers ultimately said you all still have a job here and you will all get paid, however that may be,” the source added. “They said Ellen is not giving up and the show will go on. … That woman brings so much joy to people that it would break a lot of hearts to stop doing this show. It was a pep talk and made some staffers feel better.”

Ellen‘s wife Portia de Rossi just made her first public statement to address the allegations.

Polo Player Nacho Figueras, Who Is Prince Harry's BFF, Calls Out Lots of Celebrities for Not Supporting Ellen DeGeneres

Professional polo player Nacho Figueras – who is well known for being best friends with Prince Harry – is defending Ellen DeGeneres and calling out other celebrities to show her public support.

“I have been patiently waiting for someone with more authority than me to speak up about what a great human being @theellenshow is. I have been very lucky to be on that show many times and I can tell you that it is a very well run machine, everyone was super nice, not just to me but to each other and anyone involved. I have seen Ellen act not just in her show but in public appearances in theaters where she is nice to absolutely everyone, the guy serving the coffee, the person in the elevator, the security guy and the owner of the venue,” he wrote on Instagram. “Everyone loves her because that is who she is. She makes the world a better place for millions of people everyday and we cannot hit her because something may have not been perfect. No one is perfect, and we cannot control everything.”

Nacho continued, “So I stand for you my friend and I challenge all the amazing people that know you and call you a friend to say who you are. The world has become a very dangerous place because it seems that we cannot make anything right. If I am going to be criticized for defending someone that I think deserves to be defended then so be it. We are all so scared to say what we really think and it seems that we are only relevant if we say whatever the trending social media topic is.”

Then, Nacho wrote, “So… We love Ellen right?” and tagged Jennifer Aniston, Michelle Obama, Jennifer Lopez, Pink, Sean Hayes, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Justin Timberlake, and more.

Meanwhile, a source just spoke out about who could potentially replace Ellen if she left her talk show.

Ellen DeGeneres Source Reveals James Corden Won't Replace Her, Names Four Other Stars Instead

A source is speaking out that Ellen DeGeneres won’t be replaced by James Corden, a rumor that spread over the weekend.

James Corden is definitely not under consideration as he has a long term deal with CBS and if he was interested in a daytime show, CBS would develop one for him. Regardless, he’s busy enough in late night so it’s not going to happen,” the source told the Daily Mail.

The source added potential names that would reportedly be considered if Ellen DeGeneres stepped away due to all the controversy surrounding her show and the allegations she’s facing.

The names mentioned were frequent Ellen Show guest host Sean Hayes, Kristen Bell, Melissa McCarthy and ‘the ultimate A-lister’ Jennifer Aniston. This is an unconfirmed report, but we will wait and see if Ellen DeGeneres decides to appear on her show in the Fall.

Meanwhile, Portia de Rossi just broke her silence on all the rumors.

Former 'Ellen Show' Producer Comes Forward with Her Own Story About Working for Ellen DeGeneres

Another former Ellen DeGeneres associate, Hedda Muskat, is coming forward with her story amid the allegations from former staff members alleging a toxic work culture.

Hedda worked for Ellen‘s show back in 2003 when it was in development and told The Wrap there was a “culture of fear” from very beginning.

“I had never seen this before,” she said. “I had never been around a toxic host.”

She also recalled producer Ed Glavin screaming at an employee. She said Ellen didn’t scold Glavin, and allegedly “giggled.”

“She crossed her legs up on the chair and she said, ‘Well, I guess every production needs their dog,’” Hedda said. “And from then we knew. Ed was going to be the barking dog — her dog. You could just see everybody’s faces go stiff. We’re professionals; we’re adults. We don’t need a dog to get us to do our jobs. … She was the only one giggling.”

She was let go in 2004.

“They call me in and Ed says, ‘Congratulations on the nomination. We really appreciate what you’ve done, but we no longer need your services,’” Hedda recalled, adding they said they were “taking the show in a different direction.”

And about Ellen‘s alleged apology to the staff? Hedda said, “It will not make a difference. Because she is who she is.”
