Game of Thrones will be coming back for a third season, HBO confirms to JustJared.com.

Not surprising whatsoever!

“Series creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss raised our expectations for the second season – and then surpassed them,” said Michael Lombardo, president, HBO Programming. “We are thrilled by all the viewer and media support we’ve received for the series, and can’t wait to see what Dan and David have in store for next season.”

The season two premiere of Game of Thrones is on track to easily surpass the season one average of 9.3 million viewers!

Season two cast members include: Emmy and Golden Globe winner Peter Dinklage, Michelle Fairley, Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke, Eugene Simon, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Aidan Gillen, Iain Glen, Kit Harington, Richard Madden, Maisie Williams, Isaac Hempstead Wright, Sophie Turner, Jack Gleeson, and Alfie Allen.

The highly anticipated second season of the hit show, which follows seven noble families who fight for control of the mythical land of Westeros, finally premieres TOMORROW (April 1) on HBO at 9/8c.

Featured on the character posters are Kit Harington (Jon Snow), Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen), Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister), Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister), Richard Madden (Robb Stark), and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister).

Emilia Clarke gets into character as Daenerys Targaryen on the cover of Entertainment Weekly‘s latest issue.

Co-stars Kit Harington and Peter Dinklage also got their own cover, while Lena Headey and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau posed on a separate one. (You can see and purchase all of them here.)

“This season is about a country at war. And we felt like if we didn’t see the most important battle of this entire war onscreen, we’re going to shortchange viewers,” showrunner David Benioff told the mag.

“To my knowledge, a story of this scale has never been told within filmed entertainment,” added co-creator Dan Weiss. “There’s so many characters and locations and storylines, so many things that are atypical in television – and for good reason. You could do this show relatively easily with twice the money that we have, then after a couple great seasons it’d collapse under its own weight and cease to exist.”

Emilia Clarke keeps it chic at the Game Of Thrones season one DVD launch party held at Old Vic Tunnels on Wednesday (February 29) in London, England.

The British actress was joined by her co-stars Richard Madden, Oona Chaplin, Iain Glena, Maisie Williams, Sophie Turner, Nikolas Coster-Waldau, Michelle Fairley, and creators D.B Weiss and David Benioff.

Check out the just released second trailer for season two of HBO’s highly acclaimed series Game of Thrones!

The trailer features nearly two minutes of mostly new footage including battles, dragons, and more.

Co-star Peter Dinklage also praised the production team, saying, “Every location we go to, every set is just breathtaking.”
